MOUNT KISCO, N.Y., Sept. 6 A village police officer was charged on Thursday with second-degree manslaughter in the death of a homeless Guatemalan immigrant four months ago that had shaken this community of 10,000 people.
The officer, George Bubaris, also faces one count of unlawful imprisonment and two counts of official misconduct, according to an indictment unsealed in Westchester County.
In a news conference on Thursday, the Westchester district attorney, Janet DiFiore, refused to detail what investigators believe transpired between Officer Bubaris and Mr. Perez, other than to say that Officer Bubaris, while on duty as a Mount Kisco police officer, restrained Rene Perez and exposed him to a risk of serious physical injury, recklessly causing his death.

You could be right. It will be one to watch...
Mount Kisco is, like most of Taxchester, a hellhole of “ethnic” liberal Democrats, ie Chuck Schumer supporters.
Actually, the worst towns period in Taxchester are Mount Vermin and Yonkers.
In a tightly knit community of old money wealth comes 2,500 illegals (25% of the total population) and someone’s surprised that one of them gets found stomped to death?
We need a few more facts.
Can't believe WHAT is happening? There is simply not enough information in that NYT story to know if the cop had anything to do with this mans's death or not.
Multiple overlapping problems here of course, guy is here illegally, obviously a drunken vagrant with an arrest record, and he turns up dead with a coroner's report indicating the guy might have suffered at someone else's hands. The record shows the cops where there and likely the last people to see the man alive. Three officers were present, but only one is charged...
I have enough here to suspect a story, but the story's not in that report and there's nothing available to be shocked about just yet..
Cheers,
Lloyd
I am not familiar with that source, but the comments are overwhelmingly in support of the officer, and also provide a great deal of info on the Guatemalan ILLEGAL immigrant who died, including bringing up an extensive record (criminal/police).
This still happens in some P D’s across the country, he was a trouble maker, so they just took him for “A ride”.
Kisco isn’t “old money” either, and isn’t “WASP”. Most of the town’s white population is comprised of Italians, Irish, Jews and other people of European descent. People of Italian descent in Kisco are the largest group, and their ancestors came to the town in large numbers during the late 19th century. While they were the “new guys” at the time and faced discrimination, they came here legally, learned English, put down roots, and helped build some of the best infrastructure in the area (ie. the Croton Resevoir).
Sad, but true. Kerry supporters were out in full force during the ‘04 election in Kisco and Bedford. Being a Republican in northern Westchester is tough, but not impossible.
