Ron Paul clearly won the Republican presidential debate last night held in New Hampshire. Viewers were asked to text in their thoughts on who won the debate, Ron Paul received 34%, Giuliani 17%, all others lower. Fred Thompson who did not appear at the debate was clearly the largest loser as his pro-war stance and republican hard line talking points seem to be not what the people are looking for.
Sean Hannity, Fox News pundit, was clearly upset with the results and deliberately ridiculed Congressman Ron Paul. Although outpacing all other candidates by a 2-1 margin, it was clear that Chris Wallace and Brit Hume had tones of sarcasm when talking of Ron Paul. Giving absolutely no credence to Cong. Paul's responses, they even cut off his answer in a heated exchange between Paul and Huckabee, then declaring that Huckabee won the debate on that point.
Ron Paul demonstrated last night that he is the only Republican candidate that gives any thought to issues and his answers, all others gave stock replies and mostly followed the party line.

But with a charge of this nature, I believe it deserves a response from the man who would know. So why don’t you ask him yourself to settle this?

LOL I listened to the debate. No actually Wudy da Wiberal was trying to sell himself as Reagan LOL. Now you have to remember that top three choices were doing Hillary Lite now were they not? A disaster in the making for the GOP. It makes sense that people would be turned off by them. Most people despite the polls are seeing through Rudy. The more he talks the less answers he has. The United States is not NYC and Heartland USA is not going to put up with his nonsense. Mitt and Johnny especially Johnny was following Rudy.
Ron Paul whether you agree with him or not offered the most substance in his answers when he got asked them. He gave actual answers and that made the difference. The media trick of trying to put words in his mouth like Chris Wallace and Hannity did doesn't work when he has a chance to reply.
Paul is the GOP candidate most opposite of Hillary on policy. If you think that witch is gonna get us out of Iraq I'll sell you the Brooklyn Bridge Cheap. No what she and the DEMs intend is far worse. Our Troops in Iraq under a UN Flag. That will not happen with Ron Paul. Bush needs to start finding a quick and expiditable exit policy for Iraq. There is better than a 50% chance the next POTUS will be DEM. There is an 80% chance the DEMs will hold both houses at this point because the GOP can not get it's act together thanks a lot due to Bush policy.
This would not happen with any GOP IF they would stop trying to make Iraq look like a victim. People aren't buying it and many like myself think we either owed them complete destruction or nothing. Saddam is a different matter. All he needed was for Bush to have kept his mouth shut and a covert OP to take him out. It's called Letters of Marque or Reprisal. It is Constitutional and Ron Paul pushed for it or a full Declaration of War.
I can even agree that our presence in Iraq is Unconstitutional under the current conditions as stated in the authorization for use of force. Congress failed to insist on a formal declaration of war which meant a patched together resolution much like the failed one LBJ asked for and got.
We will never take out Islam it isn't gonna happen in this world. The descendants of Ishmael believe it or not are blessed to prosper BUT not the same blessing as the one given Israel and Gentile grafted into Israel :>} Thus the root of Islamic jealousy. It is thousands of years old.
So what is best our options now? Well with our current limited military capabilities I'd say we should start taking out key Iraqi infrastructure with prejudice and get the heck out out.
Now for what will work. Once out focus on rebuilding our military to a level of readiness equal to that of 1985. This includes getting the Prince Generals out of their office chairs and back into planes on watch 24/7/365. Close our borders to anything but lawful entry and make penalties severe for disregarding it. IOW a prison between Carlsbad New Mexico and El Paso down in the salt flats.
Require passports for all entering the United States. Require under penalty of felony that all visitors here on Visa's report no less than once per quarter to at least visit a local law enforcement agency and advise them of their current residence and employer.
Extend our International Waters to at least 50 miles. Require radio transmitted permission of ships name and Captains name before permission can be obtained to enter. Require passenger list from all foreign origin flights into the United States. Train and arm airliner crews. I repeat train and arm airliner crews. I like the idea of airliners being responsible for security.
The next perhaps would be the biggest and most successful means to end or greatly limit any attacks within our borders. Repeal ALL laws requiring concealed carry weapons permits. No National ID Cards for American citizens.
I want to tell you something about the W.O.T. What Bush has done is nothing but make us all suspects. What a plane load of passengers did over the skies of Pennsylvania did was the biggest blow the United States ever did against terrorism. That is indeed the Real American Way. Name me any of the Top Four supporting any of this. That is what I expect out of a Republican howabout you?
Fox LiesAlan Colmes and Sean Hannity just suggested that Ron Paul's lead is because "the Paulites keep re-dialing." Wrong answer. Their system won't let you vote more than once. I tried--just to see. My second message came back to me with the message "you've already voted." Don't be fooled--those are UNIQUE votes, or at least UNIQUE phones.

In general, you are correct, but you must remember that a fairly large portion of our society have become addicted to government programs and will not give them up easily.

Well, I don’t think congress will have a lot of trouble coming up with a 2/3 majority to overcome RP’s vetoes. However, the vetoes will cause them to scale back a lot of their pork. The “moderate” republicans will not support him. You have to remember that the RNC has supported candidates against him in his home district.

I don’t think terrorists really became organized until Carter. Although there was a concentrated effort to kill Jews before that. I think it was only after the US committed to supporting Israel after the 67 war and then the Olympics massacre that the terrorists became detatched from their state of origin when their government signed on to peace treaties.

Sitting here shaking my head at some of the nonsense I’m seeing posted on this thread as regards the war in Iraq. I have to wonder why, if things are going as well as Hannity, Limbaugh, et al, tell us it is, that the candidate that our military is overwhelmingly supporting with their hard-earned dollars is Ron Paul. In case no one has noticed, OUR young men and women are being maimed and killed supposedly to try and stabilize a region that hasn’t been stable since Biblical times. Ron Paul is not an isolationist, he’s a non-interventionist. He voted to authorize our military to go after Bin Laden but he voted against handing the President the authority that is Constitionally dictated to Congress. This is NOT kookiness or spinelessness or anything from out of left field. Try picking up a copy of the Federalist Papers and the anti-Federalist Papers to see what this Nation’s Founders thought about pre-emptive wars and interventionism. Stop listening to the sound-bites and go learn some actual history and you’ll find that Dr. Paul is VERY close in ideals to Andrew Jackson, Thomas Jefferson, etc. While you’re at it, I’d also suggest that you grab a copy of Bastiat’s “The Law” for a few good lessons on the proper role of government - something VERY few here bashing Ron Paul seem to have any inkling of.
They cry kick and scream for something {a POTUS for limited Constitutional government} then when the opportunity comes along they don’t recognize it for what it is and reject it as a threat. I doubt any man on that stage last night knew more about Founders Intent and the Constitution than Ron Paul. I doubt any other candidate respects those principles more.
