Ron Paul Wins Debate but Republicans Won't Gamble on Him

Ron Paul clearly won the Republican presidential debate last night held in New Hampshire. Viewers were asked to text in their thoughts on who won the debate, Ron Paul received 34%, Giuliani 17%, all others lower. Fred Thompson who did not appear at the debate was clearly the largest loser as his pro-war stance and republican hard line talking points seem to be not what the people are looking for.

Sean Hannity, Fox News pundit, was clearly upset with the results and deliberately ridiculed Congressman Ron Paul. Although outpacing all other candidates by a 2-1 margin, it was clear that Chris Wallace and Brit Hume had tones of sarcasm when talking of Ron Paul. Giving absolutely no credence to Cong. Paul's responses, they even cut off his answer in a heated exchange between Paul and Huckabee, then declaring that Huckabee won the debate on that point.

Ron Paul demonstrated last night that he is the only Republican candidate that gives any thought to issues and his answers, all others gave stock replies and mostly followed the party line.

What RP did was knock a grand slam outta the ball park. He might be a little guy in statuture, but obviously he’s packing some big kahunas. He stood there and told it like it was whether anyone on the stage, in the audience, or viewing from the comfort of their den, wanted to hear it or not.

34% of those watching the debate who bothered to respond to the urgent requests from Fox to text in who they thought won the debate said RP won...doubling all others. If this phenonemal margin occured because RP supporters are more text savvy than the rest, as some here have suggested, looks like the rest best get their supporters to text messaging school on the double.

Was that Sean who chuckled every time a question was asked Dr. Paul? Whoever it was, they were classless. Like it or not, RP is a conservative Republican congressman from Texas running for President on the Republican ticket. If it was Sean, would he have chuckled at Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton in such a classless disrespectful manner? No, because today he would be out of work. So please say it wasn’t Sean.

Bush did not create terrorists. Jimmy Carter was the President who showed weakness and emboldened the islamic revoloution.

No actually it was Jerry Ford with an E.O. You see Jerry was the first POTUS to say to the M.E. Hitler wannabe's do what you wish but we won't kill you for it. He removed assassinations from the realm of possibilities even though in some cases the Constitution allows it. Carter messed up with Iran no doubt but the credit of telling M.E. terrorist go ahead you have nothing to fear clearly goes to Jerry Ford. Carter carried on the Ford legacy in that respect.

I would love to hear your reasoned conservative defense of Ron Paul’s position that we should leave the entire Arabian Peninsula because the terrorists that attacked on 9-11 want us to.

Sorry S-D, one could only vote once per cell phone. I guess RP supportors are rich and have multiple cell phones?

Well, just about everyone captures data these days. Fox has as much right as anyone to do it I guess. While they are certainly taking numbers and blocking calls, that doesn’t necessarily indicate they are building long term data. It might and it might not. As a general rule, I do not approve of data gathering.

I didn’t notice about Waziristan. I do think we walk a fine line with Pakistan though. The current guy’s rule seems to be becoming iffy. I think we could do a lot worse.

Look, Ron may serve a good purpose. I don’t dispise the guy. I just disagree with him on certain issues.

Over the years I’ve liked him quite a bit, but in the last couple I’ve watched him do some stuff that made me realize I wasn’t quite as impressed with some of his other actions.

don’t believe for a second that Paul supporters didn’t spam that poll. 34%? I think not.

We live in a very liberal town on the northern California coast and believe me we conservatives are in the minority---maybe a dozen of us. Anyway, recently I've seen posters and bumper stickers on cars and property that I know do not belong to conservatives. I'm wondering if besides the conservative supporters if there also isn't a large block of liberals trying to spike the polls in hopes of influencing the outcome similar to what happened with Perot. Just an observation.

******We just passed 40,000 registered MeetUp activists, well ahead of schedule. We could have 100,000 by January.*****

I have been tracking the meetup groups and members for a couple weeks and, if the present rate of increase continues, there will be over 100,000 meetup activists by very early Dec.

Heh. These are DU plants. You can tell by the rhetoric.

Well I've been in here myself since 1999. I've made no secret of the fact I am an Independent {Thanks to Bob Dole} voter. My political leanings are close to the Constitution Party Platform. I do like voting for or supporting good GOP Conservatives. I would gladly vote for Paul, Tancredo, or even Hunter in that order. There is no way I will ever give a vote to Liberal Rudy, his sidekick Mexico Johnny, or Mitt. I am opposed to Fred because of Fred's dismal record on standing up to the DEMs when it mattered most. He was my U.S. Senator and a huge disappointment in his second term. The man is a legend in Tennessee Court Rooms but he can not and will not stand up to the DEMs.

You can Bookmark my words on this. Hillary will run to the right of Rudy, John, Mitt, and yes even Fred and she'll win in doing so just like her Hubby did to Bush SR and Bob Dole. That doesn't make her Conservative but she can talk Conservative as good as any of those Liberal RINO's and that's the real problem. The GOP looses running liberal. The GOP wins running Conservative. Ron Paul is way right of Fred, Rudy, Mitt, and John on about all issues.

And Rudy is what? If Paul is DEM the Rudy would have to be a Card Carrying Communist judging by those standards.

Really? And just exactly how does that work? What technology is in place for someone to not be able to call multiple times? And, if that technology is available, why is it not being used in other venues? I do not buy your claim.

******Just ask any local Ron Paul MeetUp member for some help. We’ll very quickly demonstrate how it’s done with your phone. LOL.****

Yeah, we try to be helpful and you couldn’t ask any of the other candidates’ meetup groups because they are so few and far between.

Actually, I don’t even have a cell phone as we don’t have service in my area.

“Before they kill another 3,000 Americans here at home and the Saudis say “Oopsie” and offer us another check.”

This is based on the conspiricy theory that the Saudi government ordered the attacks on 9-11.

What does this Al Qaeda fighter think of the Saudis?

I think the technical term for it is Caller ID. You text a message and your number shows up to the one receiving that text. All the company has to do then is Block the senders number. The technology has been there for years.

I would love to hear your reasoned conservative defense of Ron Paul’s position that we should leave the entire Arabian Peninsula because the terrorists that attacked on 9-11 want us to.

Here's a conservative reason. They don't want us there anymore than we want them here. Do you want them here in our country with their armed forces trampling all over the place building airstrips and bases? I sure wouldn't have it. Would you?

It's one thing to trade with foreigners, it's another to become involved in their internal struggles. Yes, we were attacked on 911 by Saudi Arabians who most likely were al qeda whatever. But the Saudis are our friends right? So we ignore them to attack Iraq. Makes sense to me. /s

Where's OBL? Even RP violated his oath by signing on to the Afghanistan authorization. He did so because he and congress were promised that OBL was there and that they would get him. RP wanted OBL's head on a platter like the rest of us. Where is it?

So when it came to Iraq, he didn't believe them anymore. So he didn't sign on. And it looks like he's still po'd for failure to deliver OBL.

Now we're nation building while the hunt for OBL is all but over. He's probably hiding out in Pakistan where the rest of al qeda is holed up regrouping. We won't touch that either because Pakistan is our "friend" BS.

If you believe that our winning in Iraq will end terrorism, then you are sorely and dangerously naive.

Personally, I would like to see us have a clear cut victory leaving behind a friend in the ME. But as a realist, I've seen nothing yet that convinces me that is possible.

Even Ronald Reagan understood these people,(muslim extremists,) were not a rational people. And that human life meant nothing to them. I believe his was dead on ***** accurate

If America wants to end terrorism, then it must cut off the head of the snake. The snake slithers restfully in SA using agents like those on 911 to do it's bidding. To believe otherwise is foolish. The Saudis are not our friends.

In order to cut off the head of the snake, we must elimenate our dependence on their oil. And we must re-pay them for the billions they have in our T-bills. Or not? Maybe not. Then we can get busy actually battling the war on terror. Bankrupt the murdering ********. Not cuddling them, holding hands with them, and inviting them to Crawford for a cook-out.

I delivered as requested my position. Now you deliver yours. You tell me how a win in Iraq will end global terrorism. If your argument can hold water, I am open to change my mind. I mean it.
