The Syrian army said Thursday that its air defenses had fired on Israel Air Force aircraft that violated Syrian airspace.

The Syrian Army spokesman, quoted by the official Syrian Arab News Agency, did not say how the Syrian military fired on the aircraft or where the incident happened, other than saying it occurred at midnight Wednesday night.

"We warn the Israeli enemy government against this flagrant aggrssive act, and retain the right to respond in an appropriate way," the Syrian spokesman said......

I wish they would get it started already. I’d like to see both Syria and Iran get their teeth kicked in.

Who knows? Maybe it was just a drone.

I know the Israelis buzzed Assad’s palace when Hamas/islamic Jihad/etc. were getting uppity. However, I don’t think there’s been any reason for them to make another such statement. However, there’s been an oddly large amount of Israeli media articles talking about a feared Syrian invasion. I don’t think it’ll happen anytime soon, unless Israel decides to go on the offensive for some reason.

Just came down a few minutes ago....>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Misleading Headline.

Should read:Syrian Arm Says it Fired on IAF Craft violating its Air Space AND MISSED.

It means they were shooting at empty sky, and the aircraft, if there was one , was NOT violating Syrian air space.

What does this mean?

It means the Syrians are extraordinarily nervous, and they should be, becuase we are about to witness an extraordinary ass kickin' take place.

Time to play a little Whack-A-Mole.

Hey Syria, it's called a "probe" to see what defenses ya got.

Now that they know how the area is defended expect to find little chunks of metal and meat where your radar and weapons were located.

I'm wondering if this is going to happen before or after next summer.

Maybe we should start a pool for when the Iran/Syria fireworks display will start.

Timeline of Israeli-Syrian relations

Thu Sep 6, 2007 9:10AM EDT

(Reuters) - Syria accused Israel of bombing its territory on Thursday and warned it could respond, but Israel Radio carried a denial there had been an air strike.

The two countries are formally at war, but a ceasefire has held on the Golan front since 1974, a year after Syria launched a war that failed to regain the plateau.

Here is a short timeline on Israel-Syrian relations:

November 1947 - Syria opposes U.N. General Assembly partition plan envisaging Jewish and Arab states side by side.

May 1948 - When British mandate ends, Jews proclaim state of Israel. Syria and other Arab armies invade.

July 1949 - Israel and Syria sign armistice agreement but on-and-off hostilities continue.

June 1967 - Israel launches attack on Syria, capturing Golan Heights in the Six-Day War.

October 1973 - Syria inflicts heavy losses on Israel during an attack to try to regain the Golan Heights in the Middle East War but the assault is thwarted.

1974 - After postwar clashes on the Golan Heights, Syria and Israel sign an disengagement of forces agreement.

1981 - Israel annexes the Golan Heights, a move condemned internationally, and gives its Druze Muslim occupants the option of Israeli citizenship. Most reject the offer.

June 1982 - Israel sends forces into Lebanon and eventually drives out Yasser Arafat and his Palestine Liberation Organisation. Syria, the main foreign power broker in Lebanon, loses dozens of aircraft in dogfights with Israeli warplanes in eastern Lebanon.

December 1999 - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa meet for the highest-level talks between the two countries.

January 2000 - Israeli-Syrian talks on the return of most of the Golan Heights to Syria collapse over the fate of a few hundred square meters of land by the Sea of Galilee.

August 2003 - Israeli warplanes fly over the holiday residence of President Bashar al-Assad as a message to Syria to rein in the Hezbollah guerrilla group.

October 2003 - Israeli forces attack a training camp for Palestinian militants near Damascus.

January 2004 - Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon says he is ready for peace talks with Syria, but only if Damascus halts support for "terrorist agents".

June 2006 - Israeli warplanes again fly low over one of Assad's palaces to warn Syria against supporting Palestinian militants who captured an Israeli soldier.

June 2007 - Israel says it is willing to trade land for peace with Syria and is waiting to hear whether Assad would cut ties with Iran and hostile guerrilla groups in return.

August 2007 - Syrian Vice President Farouq al-Shara says that it has no intention of waging war against Israel to regain the occupied Golan Heights from the Jewish state.

Jews beg Christians to help save the Temple

Jews beg Christians to help save the Temple

The Temple Institute in Jerusalem has issued a statement strongly urging Bible-believing Christians to petition their governments and the government of Israel to put an end to Muslim destruction of important Jewish artifacts atop the Temple Mount.

The Islamic authorities in charge at the Temple Mount have been carrying out unauthorized excavations and renovations they say are necessary to replace aging electrical cables. Footage taken on a cellphone camera and broadcast on Israel's Channel 2 News last week showed a trench that had been dug into the floor of the complex as part of the work. Deep within the trench an ancient decorated wall was visible, a wall experts say was part of the outer courts of the ancient Jewish temple.

If the wall is part of the ancient temple courtyards, it would be the most significant Israelite Temple find in history. But experts may never have a chance to verify the find if the Muslims are allowed to continue destroying it and every other piece of Jewish history at the site.

In a desperate effort to halt Islamic plans to erase Jewish history, the Temple Institute called on Christians everywhere to “rise up and stand with their brethren in Israel and make their voices heard to stop this travesty.”

“We are asking Christians to do everything possible to petition the Israeli government to halt the Waqf destruction and have archaeologists immediately inspect the area,” the letter continued. “All of the antiquities of the Temple that have been uncovered are in danger of being destroyed if you don't help.”

Muslims ransacking Israel's Temple Mount

By Stan Goodenough

September 03, 2007

Two thousand years ago Roman Legions pillaged and burnt Israel's Second Temple, turning the hilltop on which it once stood into a desolate heap.

As they wandered the planet, looking for place to find rest for their feet, hounded and harried everywhere by antisemitic Christians and others, the descendants of the exiled Jews prayed for and looked towards their return to the Temple Mount and the rebuilding of the house of worship to their God.

It is their holiest site - the place where God's glory once shone visibly for the entire nation to see, and the place from which their Messiah is prophesied to reign.

And yet, despite this purported highest importance to their nation, Israel's government is apparently unmoved by reports of ongoing and unrestrained destruction of the site and its priceless remains at the hands of the "Palestinian" Islamic Waqf.

In an exclusive report Monday, WorldNetDaily revealed that the Waqf - or Islamic Trust - has been caught "red-handed" destroying Temple-era antiquities, including parts of what may well be a wall from the Second Temple.

The destruction is being wrought as the Arabs blast trenches in which to lay new electrical wiring for their mosques and other Muslim-controlled structures.

Whereas Muslims throughout the Middle East and around the world have rioted and protested violently any plans by Israel to carry out excavations or repair work anywhere near the Temple Mount, Israel's Jews are conspicuous by the silence and almost total lack of interest in what the Muslims are doing to their holy of holies.

One of the few Israelis to register their shock and anger is Eilat Mazar, considered one of the most prominent Temple Mount archaeologists.

WND reports Mazar analyzed a photo showing damaged stone elements and said they "might be part of a Jewish Temple wall Israeli archeologists charge the Waqf found and has been attempting to destroy."

"It certainly looks like Second Temple antiquity and could very well be part of a Second Temple courtyard wall," Mazar said.

If authenticated, said WND, the wall would be one of the most important Temple Mount archaeological discoveries in recent history. Mazar said she would need to examine the stone in the photo to certify it.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert reportedly gave the Waqf permission to use earth-moving gear to dig a long, deep trench across the top of the mount.

Israeli police are protecting the diggers and in fact helping oversee the destruction of the most important piece of their national heritage.

Archeologists like Mazar are prevented from inspecting how the work is being done.

Syria fires on Israeli warplane in its airspace allegedly "dropping ammunition"

By Israel Insider staff September 6, 2007

The Syrian army's air defenses fired on Israeli Air force warplanes that allegedly entered Syria's airspace and "dropped ammunition," according to the Syrian news agency. IDF officials said they would investigate the report, Haaretz reported.

Syrian air defenses fired at the incoming planes, which crossed into Syria after midnight local time, the agency said.

"We warn the Israeli enemy government against this flagrant aggressive act, and retain the right to respond in an appropriate way," a Syrian spokesman said.

"The Israeli enemy aircraft infiltrated into the Arab Syrian territory through the northern border, coming from the Mediterranean heading toward the eastern region, breaking the sound barrier," the spokesman said.

"Air defense units confronted them and forced them to leave after they dropped some ammunition in deserted areas without causing any human or material damage."

The IDF said they had no knowledge of the incident.

"We have no knowledge of anything like this. We will get back to you," an IDF spokeswoman said by telephone from Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile, MK Sa'id Nafa of Balad went to Syria on Thursday, despite Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit's refusal to authorize the trip, the Jerusalem Post reported.

Nafa contested that the trip was meant to maintain relations between Druse in Syria and in Israel, as well as between Syrian and Israeli Arabs. However Syria is an enemy state with which Israel has no official diplomatic relations.

The MK is an attorney who replaced former MK Azmi Bishara in Balad after Bishara resigned following accusations of espionage.

DEBKA ALERT

"...Leaves have also been canceled at IDF bases..."

DEBKAfile Reports: Alert declared in Israeli Air and Air Defense Forces after Syria claimed Israeli jets penetrated its air space September 6, 2007, 4:54 PM (GMT+02:00)

Leaves have also been canceled at IDF bases. Israeli official spokesmen declined to comment on the Syrian News Agency claim that Israeli warplanes entered its air space from the Mediterranean Sea at dawn Thursday - heading northeast and breaking the sound barrier. Syria fire forced them to leave without causing casualties, says the report. Arab and European stations quote Syrian sources as accusing the Israeli air force of bombing empty areas. DEBKAfile: The Kamishli area mentioned in the report is where the Syrian, Turkish and Iraqi borders meet.

The IDF spokesman say the incident is under investigation.

A Syrian spokesman warned “the Zionist enemy against repeating aggressive action” and said his government reserved the right to respond.

DEBKAfile military sources speculate the Syrians may have referred to a possible Israeli surveillance flight which finding itself under fire may have dumped a fuel tank to gain speed; Damascus may be seeking to raise the military temperatures between the two countries for its own purposes, or fabricating a pretext to go on the offensive against Israeli targets on the Golan.

Do not wish for this. Ehud Olmert would find a way to lose. He is a vile coward, and every day he serves as PM he is a grave threat to the State of Israel.
