ANNAPOLIS After eleven days of presidential straw poll ballots cast at the Maryland Republican Partys State Fair booth, Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) was announced last night as the winner.
The Maryland Republican Partys first-ever presidential straw poll at the State Fair resulted in nearly 1,000 Marylanders casting a vote for their favorite Republican candidate for president.

And it smells like shrimp!
The problem with negatives is that they don’t necessarily translate into votes for an opponent. They just reduce the total number of votes cast.
LOL, that was a good one.
That depends on the conviction of the negative.
Guliani and Hillary both create strong negative convictions.
Then your solution and my solution are the same.
We nuke Iran with perhaps up to 3 nukes until they get it, and blamo, WOT is finished after a few "persuasive" calls from our CIC to the other heads of state.
I also took a few economics classes, and I don't seem to remember the parts where they tied "costly foreign policy" to the economy.
Did you go to NYU or Columbia?
LOL
Would we rather have Chinese shrimp? (THAT earmark of Paul's - to help domestic shrimp operations - I'd agree with.)
LOL, they’re ‘little victories’ if Rep. Paul places first. But let him come in 3rd or 4th and all the sudden the straw polls mean something. Can’t have it both ways. Despite a concerted media blackout, Rep. Paul is getting the message of liberty and freedom out. A message contrary to today’s Republican message
Fred Thompson voted for that, Ron Paul against. Your point?
2) State sponsored terrorists states in the Middle East ARE a direct threat to the US and the world
What's a "State sponsored terrorist state" Is that a State that sponsors a terrorist state? I think you mean Countries that Sponsor Terrorists against us? Correct? What about other countries not in the mid east? Like Venezuela? Is that a direct threat too or do they have to be relegated to second tier? All kidding aside. I think Iraq proved that notion wrong, we can pretty much take over any of these two bit Islamic nation states in about a month. Some threat there. The socialists in office and currently running our government is a bigger threat to the US.
Shrimp with lobster sauce, all the way! :)
Seriously, though, the shrimp thing exposes him as a major hypocrite. Right or wrong, he’s not exactly a man of principle, just convenience.
These are the words of enemy propaganda.
Most posters on this board are lukewarm at best about Romney and vehemently against Rudy.
So who is the idiot? Maybe the guy who can't get his facts straight?
You could always spare yourself from being associated with us idjuts and post somewhere else...
I think they are a key part of the mix...
I concur with the double standard that happens with the winner of straw polls.
I just can’t figure out how liberal Republicans like Ghouliani lead in the polls among Republicans. What has happened to the party that used to be for small government???
What would you have done instead?
They may be religious nut jobs, but having US troops stationed in what they consider holy land certainly ticks off a bunch of people. Unless we figure out the root causes of what we are fighting, we are doomed to failure.
You answered your own point in your first 6 words of this quote. Let's see, who's Presidency was it during which Iran captured American hostages? And since they'd already acquired control of their own Iranian government, one would think they'd (if rational) see no need to attack America just because we'd been supporting a regime they'd overthrown. After all, they'd already won. That is, unless they have some other motive. Hmmmmm. Wonder what that could be.
I think his principle is the United States FIRST.
I don’t interpret his earmark to support domestic shrimp operations as hypocritical. While he doesn’t like earmarks in general they DO exist. That he chose to take advantage of them to help the U.S. is commendable in my book.
Hardly. Paul talks the Constitution but pushes earmarks. That's called hypocrisy.
I also took a few economics classes, and I don’t seem to remember the parts where they tied “costly foreign policy” to the economy.
I doubt you talked about the reality of central banks in your ‘few economic classes”.
And based on your sophomoric take on Iran, you wouldn’t understand it anyway.
You read like just another pussy scared of his own shadow.
Do your candidate a big favor by working for one of his opponents.
