Democratic Donor a No Show at Hearing Democratic Donor a No Show at Hearing

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) - Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu failed to appear Wednesday for a bail hearing and a judge issued a new warrant for his arrest. Hsu forfeits the $2 million bail he posted last week. Hsu had been a fugitive in California for 15 years during which time he became a top donor to Democratic candidates, including presidential contenders Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.

Hsu pleaded no contest in 1991 to a felony count of grand theft, admitting he'd defrauded investors of $1 million in a bogus investment scam. Prosecutors say he was facing up to three years in prison when he skipped town before being sentenced.

Federal Election Commission records show Hsu donated $260,000 to the Democratic Party and candidates since 2004.

(This version CORRECTS Corrects that Hsu forfeits bail, sted bail reduction request.)

ARKANSAS SUDDEN DEATH SYNDROME
- Number of persons in the Clinton machine orbit who are alleged to have committed suicide: 9
- Number known to have been murdered: 12
- Number who died in plane crashes: 6
- Number who died in single car automobile accidents: 3
- Number of one-person sking fatalities: 1
- Number of key witnesses who have died of heart attacks while in federal custody under questionable circumstances: 1
- Number of unexplained deaths: 4
- Total suspicious deaths: 46
- Number of northern Mafia killings during peak years of 1968-78: 30
- Number of Dixie Mafia killings during same period: 156
It is important in considering these fatal incidents to bear in mind the following:

The fact that anomalies need to be investigated further carries no presumption of how a death actually occurred, only that there remain serious questions that require answers.

The possibility of foul play must be taken seriously in a major criminal conspiracy in which over two score individuals and firms have been convicted and over 100 witnesses have pled the Fifth Amendment or fled the country.

If foul play did occur in any of these cases, that fact by itself does not carry the presumption that the the Clinton machine was involved. Given the footprints of organized crime, drug trade, foreign espionage, and intelligence agencies on the trail of the Clinton story, such a assumption would not be warranted. It is also well to keep in mind the classic prohibition era movie in which the corrupt poitician’s job was not to engage in illegal acts but to avoid noticing them.

Here’s a guy who has been on the run for the last 15 years. He turns himself in and they let him put up bail.

And they honestly thought he was going to show up again?

I’d say the chances he is still in the country would be less than 1%??

You are in the right ballpark. I have calculated the odds fairly rigorously and I come up with the following: the true odds are highly likely to be in the interval between .357 % and .38 %. With an outlier at .45 %.

"I’m betting the farm that “the judge” in this case is a Democrat (it is Kalefornia) and he just felt it was the “right thing to do” in granting bail."

You know something doesn't make sense. He already was a fugitive, but "surrendered" and got bail again. Then he disappears. Great deal, skip out on bail, wait until the warrant gets you, have bail set AGAIN skip out again, wait until the warrant gets you again, get bail set, skip out ad nauseum.

Did anyone really expect him to show....

I did. I figured he turned himself in last week because a sentencing deal had been made, perhaps a 1 day sentence or something.

Here we have one of the most important trials of the century and every one is quiet.

This does NOT meet Fox's litmus test for a Trial Of The Century.

There were no dead blondes or white Broncos involved.

"Did anyone at all think he wouldn’t run?"

Possibly the Judge.

Nah. Even the Judge knew.
