REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) - Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu failed to appear Wednesday for a bail hearing and a judge issued a new warrant for his arrest. Hsu forfeits the $2 million bail he posted last week. Hsu had been a fugitive in California for 15 years during which time he became a top donor to Democratic candidates, including presidential contenders Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.
Hsu pleaded no contest in 1991 to a felony count of grand theft, admitting he'd defrauded investors of $1 million in a bogus investment scam. Prosecutors say he was facing up to three years in prison when he skipped town before being sentenced.
Federal Election Commission records show Hsu donated $260,000 to the Democratic Party and candidates since 2004.
(This version CORRECTS Corrects that Hsu forfeits bail, sted bail reduction request.)
Last seen hopping a flight with that Steve Fossett guy.
>>>He was recalled to China. Unhealthy levels of lead.
I thought about laughing at that. But I’m too disgusted.
I never understood why they gave him bail with his history.
I smell a story here along the lines of the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal. If there was only a real reporter out there that would just pull the string and start to unravel it.
LOL
WHY was a fugitive felon even allowed bail???
He already had fled the country for Hong Kong in his previous encounters with US law.
I’d say the chances he is still in the country would be less than 1%??

What idiot judge even considered bail? This crap has to stop.

But, but, isn’t the Patriot Act suppose to prevent that????

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) - Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu (SHOO) is due to appear before a judge in Redwood City this morning (9:00) as he tries to get his bail reduced.
Hsu was taken into custody Friday when he turned himself in after being a fugitive for more than 15 years.
His bail was set at $2 million, which he was able to post in about five hours.
Today the judge will consider Hsu's request to reduce the bail amount by half.
They’re more interested in the mine owner missing his hearing. That’s what lead the top of the hour news blurb on my local talk station. No mention of Hsu.

Has Ft. Marcy Park been searched yet?
The media with say “Who is Hsu?” and go on taking about Craig. Although this type of story is pretty hard to ignore. Too bad this is coming out before Hillary gets the nod from the Dems.
