The Swedish navy's largest ship, HMS Carlskrona, is to be mothballed due to a lack of officers. A decision on whether to refit, sell or scrap the minelayer will be made later in the autumn.

The Carlskrona returned from its most recent long voyage in 2005. Since then, it has been kept in port most of the time...

The 3rd Naval Warfare Flotilla in Karlskrona currently has 43 vacancies for officers. A number of officers resigned their commissions during the summer.

The Swedes, like most of Europe, believe that their posture of constant appeasement has made them safe and beloved. When their fool’s paradise inevitably turns out to be a hellish nightmare they are going to wish they had a military to go with their legions of “enlightened”, worthless bum-kissers.

It’s a coastal defense navy, how large a ship does it need? The majority of its units are small, fast attack boats and small submarines.

I visited The Karlskrona years ago during its port visit to St. Barths. At the time, they were training midshipmen from their Naval Academy. Nice ship. As it was explained to me, they have more of a need for a defensive force of minelayers/sweepers, rather than long-range “offensive” platforms.

And BTW- Their Sailors know how to DRINK...

25 year old ship, so if it hasn’t been overhauled, it is probably showing its age. A pair of 57mm and a pair of 40mm guns, the ship is less than half the size of a modern destroyer.

That they have a navy is more surprising than the size of the ship. We need pictures of their uniforms — do they still wear the hats with the horns?
