The Coryell County GOP Straw Poll was a great success with speakers informing us about each of ten declared and undeclared candidates.
Our speakers included Borah Van Dormolen, Texas President of the Republican Womens Clubs; Justice Tom Gray, Court of Appeals, Chris DeCluitt, President of the Waco Republican Club, Marc LeGare, a local citizen, Earnest Remedies, Precinct Chairman; Lee Kelley, Secretary of the Coryell GOP, Peggy Thompson, Vice Chairman, and myself.
It was well presented information and informative. Duncan Hunter took 35 percent of the vote, Fred Thompson got 30% and Mitt Romney received 20%.
Well be better informed now as we go to Fort Worth for the Straw Poll on September 1.
Circle Saturday October 6 on the calendar and plan to be at the Pidcoke Tabernacle Gathering and get stirred up about the upcoming elections.
Ed Thompson, Chairman

This has slightly more meaning than a poll taken at a local kindergarten.

Duncan Hunter scored a home run in the Lone Star State. Texas Republicans are very conservative at the grass roots level, but are neither survivalists nor libertarians. I heard on a Dallas talk radio station that Ron Paul’s supporters turned off many delegates at the Texas straw poll in Fort Worth because they conspicuously failed to cheer several military officers, not a smart move in Texas or anywhere in the South for that matter.

Well, this is what happens when paleoPaulie acts as spokesthing for Al Qaeda in POTUS debates. If you wonder why so many Republicans despise Paul's candidacy, public contempt for the military by identified Paul supporters should adequately explain why Paul does not break 1% in reputable polls. Referencing and mirroring Eisenhower's "Modern Republican" opposition to what he called the military industrial complex doesn't help the paleos either since that is generally a favorite myth of the McGovernites.
Antiwar stooges cannot very well be described as anti-liberal or anti-Demonrat. Quite the contrary, the antiwar kneejerks ARE liberals and ARE Demonrats, especially (in Texas) when they come from Austin. Antiwarism: Another reason why paleoPaulie is a sign of confusion to actual Republicans and actual conservatives and will be crushed when the real voting starts.
The majority of the GOP is CONSERVATIVE and not libertoonian. There is a major difference.

Really, the only thing you can probably disagree with him about is the war...That's a biggie, though. That and his other off-the-wall foreign policy ideas.
...which Im willing to bet most Republicans just support because its a Republican War.
Nope.
