Asking for Freeper Help (Vanity)
none | self

Posted on 09/03/2007 6:44:15 PM PDT by notaliberal

I just purchased Roxio Creator, Suite 9 and I am asking for help from freepers who have experience with slide shows containing music. I want to put a family slide show together as a christmas gift for my three brothers and one sister. My parents and one sister have passed away so it will be very sentimental.

My Dad was in the Navy and USAF during WWII, Korean, and Vietnam so we have had a lot going on in our life.

I am also looking for music reminising about the past. The only one I can come up with is Alan Jackson's "Remember When". Would you have any musical suggestions or recommendations. Thanks

Help! I'm over my head!

There's a song by The Little River Band called.....well...."Reminiscing".

Kenny Loggins’ song, Celebrate Me Home, makes a very nice companion to a slide show. Don’t know why, it just does.

How about putting photos of your Dad's WWII years to the music of "Sentimental Journey", "In The Mood", etc.

You know. Good old Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller type songs.

"Memories" or "The Times of Your Life" by Paul Anka:

Times of Your Life

Good morning, yesterday
You wake up and time has slipped away
And suddenly it's hard to find
The memories you left behind
Remember, do you remember?

The laughter and the tears
The shadows of misty yesteryears
The good times and the bad you've seen
And all the others in between
Remember, do you remember
The times of your life? (do you remember?)

Reach out for the joy and the sorrow
Put them away in your mind
The mem'ries are time that you borrow
To spend when you get to tomorrow

Here comes the saddest part (comes the saddest part)
The seasons are passing one by one
So gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?

Gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?

Of your life
Of your life
Do you remember, baby
Do you remember the times of your life?

FADE

Do you remember, baby
Do you remember the times of your life?

The song, "At Last" sang by Etta James.

A beautiful song about finding your true love. It would go beautifully with slides of your mom and dad together.

Excellent idea! I have that CD as a matter of fact! I bought it after my Father passes away because he loved that music so! It brings tears to my eyes when I listen to it! Thanks!

Another good song for the era:

Do You Remember These? lyrics
Artist - The Statler Brothers
Album - Various Songs
Lyrics - Do You Remember These?

Saturday morning serials, chapters 1 through 15,
Flypaper, penny-loafers, Lucky Strike Green,
Flat tops, sock hops, Studebaker, Pepsi please.
Ahh, do you remember these?
Cigar bands on your hand, your daddy's socks rolled down
Sticks, (NO GLOVES IS WRONG), and aviator caps with flaps
that button down Movie stars on Dixie Cup tops and knickers to your knees
Ahh, do you remember these?
The Hit Parade, grape Tru-Aid, the Sadie Hawkins dance,
Peddle-pushers, duck-tail hair and peggin¡¦ in your pants
Howdy Doody, tutti-frutti, the seam up the back of her hose
Ahh, do you remember those?
James Dean, he was keen. Sunday movies were taboo.
The Senior Prom, Judy's mom; rock-n-roll was new.
Cracker Jack prize, stars in your eyes, ask daddy for the keys.
Ahh do you remember these?
The boogie man, lemonade stand, and takin' your tonsils out.
Indian burn and wait your turn, it¡¦s four foul balls you¡¦re out.
Cigarette loads and secret codes and savin' lucky stars.
Can you remember back that far?
To boat neck shirts, and fender skirts, and crinoline petticoats.
Mums the word and a dirty bird and a double root beer float
Moon hubcaps and loud heel taps and he's a real gone cat.
Ahh, do you remember that?
Dancin' close, and little moron jokes, and cooties in her hair.
Captain Midnight, Ovaltine, and the Whip at the county fair.
Charles Atlas' course, Roy Rogers' horse, and 'only the Shadow knows'
Ahh, do you remember those?
Gable's charm, froggin' your arm, loud mufflers, pitchin' woo
Goin' steady, Veronica and Betty, white bucks and blue suede shoes.
Knock-knock jokes;
Who's there?
Dewey¡K,
Dewey who?
Do we remember these? Yes we do.
Ah, do we, do we remember these!

Song “In a moment” from American Idol contestant Chris Sligh

In a moment, love can pass you by
And in a moment, a heart can come alive

Every moment’s getting better
Every moment brings me closer to you

Can I hold you till the morning light
Takes away the dead of night
And sunrise shines on you?
Can love take all these fears away
Till morning comes with brand new day?
It’s love that pulls us through
In a moment.

In a moment love can tear you down
And in a moment a heart can come around

I feel you in my heart
I feel you in my soul
Oh, you make me whole
In a moment...

Sorry. Here are the words. Remember only by Etta James. There are other versions but hers is the most moving.

At last
my love has come along
my lonely days over
and life is like a song

Ooh At last
the skies above are blue
well my heart was wrapped up in clover
the night I looked at you

I found a dream
that I could speak to
a dream that I could call my own
I found a thrill
to press my cheek to
a thrill that I have never known

well

You smile
you smile
oh and then the spell was cast
and here we are in heaven
for you are mine at last

I found a dream
that I could speak to
a dream that I
could call my own
I found a thrill
to press my cheek to
a thrill that I have never known

well

You smile
you smile
oh and then the spell was cast
and here we are in heaven
for you are mine at last

ooo yea
you are mine
you are mine
at last
at last
at last
at last
