When I was an aircraft loader at JFK Airport, 1969 - 1974, the bookstore people would sometimes remove the front cover from unsold paperbacks and leave them in a box near our office.

IIRC, selling books without their covers is illegal.

I’ve heard of burning books to prevent people from reading them, but burning books because people won’t read them-well, that’s a new one. Censorship by popular apathy?

I see nothing wrong with burning these books. Most contemporary books are unreadable and poorly written, mirroring the decline in the English language over the past half century. Of course, the article does not state how old these books are, but my guess is they were mostly “modern” books.

Aaaaaagain? What a nerd. He did this once already this summer. He can take them to Half Price Books and sell them for money...I think he is losing it.

Not one book in a hundred is worth the time to read, but likely the burnt books included not one volume from Don Quixote’s library.

Shame they decided to burn books.
I recently bought text books for a student at the local community college.
Human Anatomy, New 166.77 Used 145.12.
Human Physiology, New 167.35 Used 144.20.
The class had limited number of students and the professor demanded current edition 2007 books.
The cost of education especially book prices have absolutely gone over the top.

Check out the guy’s website. He sells very little I would be interested in.

Prospero's has publicized for months that it was looking for a good home for thousands of books, and saying it would burn the books if no one wanted them. I'm doing my part:

Did they burn this book?
