Hostage Group Returns to Korea to Relieved Relatives and Angry Critics
Nineteen South Korean aid workers, held hostage by the Taliban for 42 days, returned home early Sunday morning to a mixture of sorrow, relief and anger.
The members of The Saemmul Church missionary group ignored their government's warning not to travel to Afghanistan. Two of the male hostages were killed and there were reports that some of the women had been raped.
While they were being held in Afghanistan, there was little open criticism of the missionaries, some of whom were killed. But now that they are safely home, even some family members were critical.
"I thought you would be killed," Cheon Kwang-sil, 77, told her granddaughter Lee Young-kyung, "I told you not to go there."
Today the newly released sex abuse victims are being publicly blamed.
This, in a nutshell, is what is wrong with the world response to terrorism. Giving into them and then blaming the victims. If you wanted to script a way for civilization to fall this would be a good start.
Wonder why she would say that? Isn't the Religion of Peace running that place. The real danger must be in visiting America where Bush tortures everyone and no one has any rights.
I’ve also watched CNN’s special, so I know those Christian fundamentalists are a lot worse than Muslim fanatics.
>>Wonder why she would say that? Isn’t the Religion of Peace running that place. The real danger must be in visiting America where Bush tortures everyone and no one has any rights.<<
I would suggest there is a rational middle where we never giver into them but also don’t compromise our key principles by using torture.
May God Have Mercy on These Poor Souls!

You mean, torture as traditionally defined? Or torture as whatever mindless idiocy the radical leftards can get the general public to swallow as a new definition?
Real torture. Like underwear on the head and flushing the Koran down the toilet. Those guys are probably scared for life after that.
Hey, I'm all for Muslims being scared for life!
But I know you meant 'scarred'
>>You mean, torture as traditionally defined? Or torture as whatever mindless idiocy the radical leftards can get the general public to swallow as a new definition?<<
I think of torture as using pain to cause someone to say something they would not voluntarily say.
Although I can see the argument that things like forced enemas and rape could be considered torture.
That underwear thing...yeah. Depends though, on who’s been wearing them and for how long.
So now the Koreans are back home. The terrorists have a little more money in their pocket but once again the donkeys in Iraq will tremble after a slight respite.
At least the Koreans taught the terrorists a lesson. If you want our money just take hostages and rape them. I don’t know if that was the right lesson to teach them.
“Although I can see the argument that things like forced enemas and rape could be considered torture.”
When did we adjust the SOP toward using such practices?

Rape? Never, I hope. I was referring to what happened to the Koreans.
Forced enemas, I don’t know when that started. Its in the Guantanamo interrogation logs.
My point though was that torture is something you know when you see it - like when the Japanese made prisoners stand at attention. It is apparently horrific to watch someone suffering like that. The other POWs had no doubt it was torture.
When it comes to practices of our enemy, there are no boundaries uncrossable for them. Rape is an issue that everyone must face, male and/or female, when captured by arab/muslim forces of any sort.
Forced enemas used at Gitmo? Where can I find a copy of these interrogation logs? What possible value would such an act have?
I am familiar with the usual practices; denial of sleep, stress positions, temporary solitary, white noise, temporary reduced food, etc etc. None of those rise to the level of torture, except in the minds of those who are outraged by any attempt by US forces to gain any information from anyone, at any time, for any reason.
The stress position of standing at attention. Yeah, that can be listed as torture, if put into context.
If a person is forced, upon pain of beating or beheading, to stand locked at attention for extended periods of time, while already weakened from long periods of slave labor and starvation... then sure.
There is also the torture of being made to stand up, usually against a wall, for days at a time. This causes the heart to weaken, blood to pool in the extremities, joints to swell and lock and can cause death.
If you find record of an American, or anyone employed by the US doing such, you’ll also find record of that person being prosecuted as the criminal he/she is.
ABCDisney News doesn't seem so unsure of foreign reports when they claim that OUR troops have raped someone.
Christians are tortured in Saudi Arabia every day by the mere fact that they are denied access to non-muslim religious texts.
But then Islamic Supremacists are “all about” the double standard.
Amen! My Prayers are with our Korean Family in Christ, that He will Help them to Heal Quickly from their Horrific Ordeal.
