Ethnic Cleansing or "Amnesty"
http://greensboro.rhinotimes.com/1editorialbody.lasso?-token.folder=2007-08-30&-token.story=161535.112113&-token.subpub= ^ | Orson Scott Card

So the election grows closer, and it's time to satisfy all those people who have been demanding that we put a stop to illegal immigration. The failure of the so-called "amnesty bill" leaves the government no choice other than expulsion of anyone without papers.

The National Guard is activated and the city and state police forces are nationalized. Sweeps of Hispanic neighborhoods round up all the Spanish-speaking people with brown skin and sort them out according to who has the right documentation.

Six million of them are found to be illegal immigrants.

They are loaded into buses, trucks, cattle cars and transported to the Mexican border. It's all handled very humanely – they're well fed on the way, and we pay the Mexican government a hundred dollars per returnee to pay for their return to their homes. That's $600 million, but it's so worth it.

The more I read, the more straw men I ran into. I couldn’t finish reading the article as hard as I tried.

Tehn again, if they only found 6,000,00 illegals (convenient number isn’t it?) the guys doing the round up missed a shiiteload (3 out 4 were missed!).

I have this peculiar feeling that Card's aversion to ethnic cleansing is heavily conditioned on the exact circumstances under which it would occur. I don't imagine it would bother him a bit if millions of Whites & Blacks were 'redeployed' out of the Greater Southwest.

Like most Liberals, I doubt if Card has ever thought such strictures might apply equally to himself (rules for thee, but not for me). Let's see . . . which Idians were it that originally occupied the Greensboro area?

Pack your bags, Card.

They are loaded into buses, trucks, cattle cars and transported to the Mexican border.

"Hey! That's how we did it!" exclaimed the criminal government of Mexicorruption. "Except we made 'em get to the border on their own."

May I remind everyone of the UN definition of genocide?

". . . c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group. . . ."

Making conditions so bad in Mexicorruption that the group (the undesirable citizens) flee the country, that's (c); and (e) is after being forcibly removed the children born to the group fleeing Mexicorruption are born as American citizens not as one of the banished group.

Always the wily ones the criminal government of Mexicorruption "taxes" the expelled group by virtually demanding remittances.

The newspaper employee has it backwards.

So was "loading them into cattle cars".
What he's saying without saying it is that America is Nazi Germany.
What a low life Card turned into with this hit piece.

Hey, they crammed us into those in basic training! It may have seemed inside my freshly-shaven, naive head at the time that my drill sergeant was acting like a Nazi SS officer. I guess he was.

Like the earlier poster, I couldn't get too far through it before the idiocy became just too much. How about we overhaul our system to include easy-to-obtain temporary work visas and advertise them in Mexico. Then we change citizenship laws to remove the citizenship of anchor babies so we won't be splitting up so many families when we do the next step. That is of course just what the article said, rounding up and shipping off those who violated our sovereignty. We don't pay a cent to Mexico for this because what it will cost them will be a pittance compared to the billions of dollars pumped into the Mexican economy by these illegals.

In the end, there will surely be enough honest Mexicans waiting at the border to get their visas to replace them, thus no crisis.

I skipped to the end to see how it turned out, and this one is great!

"At least we're still speaking English!"

"That's right," says the fuzzy-headed liberal. "It takes a lot of brains and determination to learn to speak two languages fluently. We kicked out six million people who were willing to try to do that. And what we have left is ... you."

I see very few foreign-born Mexicans even trying to learn English. They want "little Mexico" in the US and think we should have to learn Spanish. Yes, I've gotten that look at the farmer's market, "You don't know Spanish so you must be an ignorant American," from Mexicans who don't know English.

Yeah, I don't speak Spanish, and I don't want to. I hate the damn language, just sounds ugly to me. But I already speak two languages, unlike that asshat at the market. I lived in a foreign country and I actually bothered to learn the language spoken there. What a concept!

We crammed ourselves into cattle cars pulled by tractors in Olongapo, PI to go on liberty. It was either that, catch a cab or walk.

/sarcasm?

Card is an excellent writer of fiction. This tale, though, isn't up to his usual standards. He left out NAFTA, Mexico's oligarchy, delayed mechanization, inherent evil of parasitism, corruption's exponential expansion...

Odd thing how his state of Utah has rolled over in every way to accommodate the illegals. As the illegals aren't converting to the CLDS by any significant number why is this so?

You left out "monkey meat"! LOL

Yes it was. Alas, all good things must end and that city of old is no more the place it once was.

Oh boy, I had to force myself to read it to the end.

If you have a lot, a lot, a lot of drinks you might end up like this Card guy, having a stupid imaginary conversation in your head while getting more convinced that you are sooooooo right about things.

This guy needs some medical attention.

Just checking.

Well, given his past history as a writer you might say that he's just continuing in his regular venue with this unrealistic, fictional and phantasmal concoction.

To simplify: the Mormons are active supporters of illegal immigration as exemplified by the state they rule. I’m disappointed to find their best writer of fiction punking himself out for their agenda.

Did I just make that up?
