THE Pentagon has drawn up plans for massive airstrikes against 1,200 targets in Iran, designed to annihilate the Iranians military capability in three days, according to a national security expert.
Alexis Debat, director of terrorism and national security at the Nixon Center, said last week that US military planners were not preparing for pinprick strikes against Irans nuclear facilities. Theyre about taking out the entire Iranian military, he said.

I hate leaks as much as anyone, but loose buttlips sink ships. If they are aimed correctly. Sign this guy up. I wonder if he is up for the "three-day-blitz". Lotsa beans.
Did you mean incinerated?
Probably because the Weekly World News shut down, and they all had to go somewhere!

Will President Bush Bomb Iran?
They plant these stories in the London papers to give the big-talking Iranians something to think about,
The drumbeat gone from a crawl to a brisk walk.
(sorry,mixed metaphor)
Iraq/Iran/MiddleEast Ping.
Iranians are Persian. Arabs will have mixed feelings at worst.
Correct, but the Arab rogues will get the message nontheless. They also got a big message when we kicked the snort out of the Taliban who also aren’t Arabs.
No, that was someone else who tought “incinerated” ~ I’m into precision weapons myself, but there are those who favor a major thermonuclear holocaust.
I’ll bet Iranians would line up to have a chance to direct a J-DAM into a Mullah’s house.
I know they are Persian but they are Muslim
And they Arab street the ones are are great for burning flags and jumping up and down like nut cases when ever they perceive an insult to allah will have some sobering thoughts when they see what Uncle Sam can do(if we do it )when serious about something
America will NOT support Politically Correct wars where America fights with its hands tied behind its back, which last for years and where ground troops are dying by the hundreds.
America LOOOOVES Kick Ass Air power Wars that last three weeks and which they can follow on CNN.
My Recommendations for Iran:
1. Use Air power to destroy Iranian military capability and paralyze all Iranian troop movements.
2. Put boots on the ground to secure land surrounding the hardened nuclear facilities and have the engineers totally destroy the nuclear facilities at their leisure.
3. Get out.
Air Force Times reported last week that all of that budget savings went right back into the Pentagon DoD budget to pay for the Iraq War.
For 2 years now, the DoD has been throwing out Air Force and Navy members.
If we go to war with Iran, we don't get those 40,000 back overnight.
This nation has to decide what its priorities are.
A war with Iran means the Air Force will shoulder the muscle load.
The Air Force has less capabilty to strike than it did 12 months ago.
It can sustain a short campaign, but not a long one. The entire defense budget has been focused on the Army and the Iraq war.
Then Bush needs to get his ass in gear, juggle some budget priorities and find a way to have the job completed by Inauguration Day 2009.
Otherwise, the Democrats may well have the White House, the Iranian religious fanatics with a suicide worship may have The Bomb by 2010 and with The Bomb will come Islamist control of 70% of the World's know oil reserves which will not be taken away from them unless we escalate to the nuclear option.
We are not in Iraq to spread Democracy & Freedom. We are in Iraq to protect a vital strategic interest, namely, the economic carotid artery of modern Western Civilization ..... Access to 70% of the World's know oil reserves.
BOTH Saddam Hussein and Islamist Iran threatened that vital strategic interest. Both need to be dealt with.
Bush needs to lead and get the job done.
Not only have the Navy and AF lost 40,000 troops, many of those remaining aren't maintaining aircraft and airfields. They are escorting convoys in Iraq, and not from the air either.
And this is on top of a recently announced RIF of officers to be effective this fiscal year.
"Among the overstaffed Air Force Specialty Codes are aircraft maintenance, communications, space and missile, munitions and missile maintenance, nuclear scientist, finance, manpower and public affairs.
Officers in several career fields are prohibited from applying, including pilots, navigators, intelligence, security forces and civil engineering.
In this case "overstaffed" means the allowable numbers were cut to meet the end year goals for the numbers of officers overall. They were thought the most disposable. I'd observe that these are the same career fields that had RIFs and Voluntary releases back in the '70s. One exception might be the intelligence field, since I know several Intell types who were RIFed in the mid '70s, but went into the reserves, one of them ending up as a full bull colonel before he retired, which was quite the joke on the guy who'd given him the bad OER that got him RIFed, that guy retired as an L/C. :)
In FY '76 they got so desperate to cut the numbers that they would let pretty much anyone in any career field have an early release. Then they RIFed, and had RIFed before then as well. Just like now.
I am always amazed by the management idiocy of the Department of Defense. "People are our GREATEST asset." Until it is budget year end.
I was a pilot, and served 21 years. I remember the aviation "forecast", followed by the actual pilot bathtub. Then the military couldn't train enough pilots per year.
We eat our own.
Logisticians are the latest casualty. We threw thousands of them out, and now the military wants them back - yesterday.
Who the hell manages this nightmare?
