Few people saw it coming. Many are still oblivious. But it is here, and growing administrative government. What made America great was the creation of a government designed to exercise only the power granted to it by the people who are governed. The Declaration of Independence says it quite clearly: "Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."
This means that elected representatives make the laws and levy taxes to hire administrators who administer the laws. This ingenious separation of powers makes it possible for the people who are governed to un-elect representatives who make laws or levy taxes the people don't like.
This form of government is brilliant. But, in the minds of the more progressive social engineers, it is messy, unprofessional, and prone to mistakes. Since the early 1970s, the idea has emerged that governments should direct the development of society, rather than respond to society's wishes. Municipal planners began to multiply in the 1970s, and county and regional "planning commissions" began to flex their muscles. These, of course, are most often appointed bodies, led by a professional staff. Their professional judgment was thought to be better than the judgment of politicians who were subject to the influence of wealthy contributors.

Since the 1930s, at least, with the administration of FDR. And one could argue, IMO, that it began far earlier, with the wartime administration of President Lincoln. Of course, if one really wants to be strict about it, one could argue that it began further back than that - when the first cave man realized he got a charge out of running the cave and telling other people what to do and how to do it, simply for the sake of the thrill which the exercise of power generated.
This same shift away from the consent of the governed is now infecting our Congress. The executive (administrative) branch, (Bush Administration) has created "working groups" consisting of appointed administrators from Mexico, Canada and the United States, which work daily to "harmonize" or "integrate" the administrative rules which govern the societies of the three nations. (Thus bringing the foundation of the NAU.)
Congress is not needed, nor wanted. Representative government is no longer essential; it is now the administrative government (no voting) that engineers society by enforcing rules and regulations that carry the weight of law.
NAFTA and CAFTA are major trade policies that were devised by appointed professionals, (i.e. YOU did not vote on this) and approved by a Congress that was either converted, or intimidated.
OK, here it comes...
In either case, the result is the same. Through the administratively created Security and Prosperity Partnership, the appointed professional bureaucrats are devising and enforcing public policy that is transforming the nation from a representative government to an administrative government.
And the communists gain control without firing a shot.
Social engineering and pee-cee propaganda (MSM) now has anyone that does try to stop this labeled as a "terrorist."
And most of the sheep will buy off on the propaganda. When the last of the real Americans are faced with total submission to communism or federal prison they will have nothing left to loose.

There was enough to criticize in both sides of the Civil War. One side had slavery, enforced by torture, and had systematic censorship in the form not only of laws against educating a major fraction of the population but laws against high speed communication across state lines. And the other side had its own abuses. Censorship of war news not least. And if the truth be told, Abraham Lincoln was apparently little if any less racist towards blacks back then than blacks typically are toward whites today. All in all, I doubt we would readily have found anyone in authority on either side that we actually would have been comfortable with.
Having recently read Mr. Lincoln's T-Mails (link is to my FR review thereof), I'm fascinated with the issue of the effect of the telegraph on journalism. Before the advent/acceptance of the telegraph (Morse was more a software than a hardware guy, and more of an entrepreneur than either. And it took time to find the killer app of the telegraph, which was coordinating RR train traffic), newspapers were local - and national news didn't reach newsdesks any faster or reliably than it reached the barbershop or saloon. So the telegraph, and the Associated Press, transformed the nature of journalism. And, IMHO, unified it.
Reichstag Fire Syndrome keeps coming to mind.
It has nothing to do with communists except as they are part of the system and have been since 1984. The bigger problem now is how to integrate the islamists, especially in Tehran.
SPP and NAU are "globalist" and that is pure unadulterated communism with polite pee-cee names.
The islamists do not, IMO, deserve the level of consideration even given to the communists. The islamists are a disease on humanity and need to be eliminated. Throughout their entire history they have been nothing but trouble and perhaps now they will pizz off enough of the planet that everyone will realize they have just got to go. A thousand years of BS from that crew is enough. They can not get along with the rest of the planet and this isnt going to be a islam world therefore the outcome is inevitable.
But the point was the SPP and NAU are ultimately communist goals.
Communism is over; the new thing with no name has won. The islamists are not going away. That is a fact. They might be integrated into civilization. Whether it happens sooner or later depends on clarity of thought, which they lack at present and which we have not yet achieved WRT them.
Ya gotta have a name on the "new thing" or you are going to get a lot of replies referring to a certan kitchen product manufactured by Reynolds.
The islamists are not going away. That is a fact. They might be integrated into civilization.
They will never integrate into western civilization. The very core of islam does not allow it.
Probably not. They will be integrated into this new thing with no name.
