The sheets of paper seemed to be everywhere the lawmakers went in the Green Zone, distributed to Iraqi officials, U.S. officials and uniformed military of no particular rank. So when Rep. James P. Moran Jr. (D-Va.) asked a soldier last weekend just what he was holding, the congressman was taken aback to find out.

“Quoting liberals is the worst kind of slander....”
Typical liberal; they just can’t stand to be held responsible for their own actions.
This Washington Post hack has some balls, saying the Bush administration manipulates--as if the "We must Surrender" crowd hasn't already reached conclusions about the war.
Hell, Chief White Flag Waver Harry Reid has already said, "The war is lost"! But no, these Democrat liberals are soooo open minded....
I hope the Washington Post's circulation tanks and this clown masquerading as a journalist ends up writing obituaries for the Des Moines Register.
Heh! You ought to hear the stuff we say when you're not here.
And Allegra wins best line of the thread!
Post scriptum. These phonies couldn’t care less about soldiers anyway. They are completely self-absorbed and only concerned about boondoggles and photo ops for their newsletters and next election cycle.
“But even such tight control could not always filter out the bizarre world inside the barricades. At one point, the three were trying to discuss the state of Iraqi security forces with Iraq’s national security adviser, Mowaffak al-Rubaie, but the large, flat-panel television set facing the official proved to be a distraction. Rubaie was watching children’s cartoons.
When Moran asked him to turn it off, Rubaie protested with a laugh and said, “But this is my favorite television show,” Moran recalled.
Porter confirmed the incident, although he tried to paint the scene in the best light, noting that at least they had electricity.
“I don’t disagree it was an odd moment, but I did take a deep breath and say, ‘Wait a minute, at least they are using the latest technology, and they are monitoring the world,’ “ Porter said. “But, yes, it was pretty annoying.””
That’s pretty funny... the Iraqi Security Adviser rather watch cartoons then get lectured to from a US Congresswoman.
Hey, your talking about my congressman. Could you speak a little louder so others can hear?
Did they ever get a oft-rumored Starbucks at the IZ Embassy? Or was it just a super-duper Green Beans?
Is it SOP for bio’s to be distributed prior to the arrival of the kings and queens in our disfunctional congress? I’m still laughing that they think their own words slime them....idiots all of them.
Definitely. I think it was good to identify them...but it’s funny how they howl at being publicly identified there for statements that they have been trumpeting in the press here. Maybe they feel a little guilty?
The truth hurts, eh, Ellen?
Is Jonathan Weisman a comedy writer...???
Congresscritters need to know that words MEAN things; especially to our enemies. They’ll just have to deal with learning that they are being held accountable for their ideas and actions.
