I agree. I think he should go, and at the same time I think the arrest is bogus.

Again - me too. His poor judgement shows that he should go - but I am, quite frankly, alarmed that you can be arrested for so little overt activity. Yeah, I have no doubt that Craig was using the standard code for setting up these types of encounters - but honestly, an arrest based mostly on the foot bumping is bordering on thought crime.

I had a similar experience. I’d parked at a park to eat lunch, and I glance over and there is a guy motioning to his genitals, clearly soliciting me for sex. I’m female, but I was horrified and I took off.

Reading this says that if a person flips you off or swears, you could be arrested for Disorcerly Conduct. Almost everyone could be arrested under this statute at some time in their life.

I think context has a lot to do with it, but if this all helps to raise the awareness of the generality of certain laws, then that can’t be a bad thing.

What if Senator Craig had a really strong hunch that if he pled innocent or fought the charges, something worse would come to light; something he wanted to keep secret?

I think there's a very good reason he chose to settle and get out of Dodge.

He should go... it’s cut and dry... either he did it and he should go or he is an idiot in which case he should still go.

The proof and evidence of which you speak is there. He pleaded guilty.

He could have a split personality. It happens when people engage in a behavior for so long they don’t approve of themselves. Literally, one part of their personality so completely disassociates that they genuinely can’t remember when they’re in another personality. It’s called schizophrenia or bi-polar disorder.

cops can be the lowest form of life, but imagine if you had to go into a restroom and suspect gay sex is happening in the stall next to you. That would be very tramatizing, especially for children. Cops need to convict this and treat it like the crime it is.

Don’t screw around in public bathrooms, it might help Hillary.

That might make a good bumper sticker:

Conservatives: Be careful what you do in airport bathrooms. It might help Hillary!

I freely admit to having stuck my hand under a stall when someone was on the other side. However, it was after I had asked if there was any paper in there, as I had none, and after they had said yes. After this, I will rethink even that, as a zealous undercover cop might think it was an overt solicitation.

The thing that I balk at in this and find condemnation for is that my understanding is that 1. he (Craig) had a previous questionable incident, and 2. This bathroom was a known meeting place for perverts and solicitation and WAS WAY OUT OF THE WAY FOR CRAIG. That said, I admit to being thoroughly disgusted with the media. I just do not remember them EVER having jumped on a story of a Dem like this. First, it is suppressed, investigated, suppressed some more, and, finally, slightly and stingily reported if broken by Fox, Rush, or other conservative news outlets.

Honestly, when I look at the incidences of immorality and corruption in the Congress, I am totally disgusted. However, it is true that the Dems don't eat their own--they are too busy eating the lunch of Repubs--and their supper and their breakfast, and their......on to infinity.

Well if that is the case, he DEFINATELY should go!

We have too many in congress with mental disorders as it is. People with mental disorders lack the judgment at times, to hold office. Sorry they are ill, but still shouldn’t be in office.

If Larry Craig refuses to resign, than I wonder if he’s being blackmailed to stay where he is?

No it's simple human nature. As a senator he has power, fame, attention, incredible perks that come with the position. He wants to hold on to it. And he cannot believe that people will reject him.

Wonder why the RR’s have the lower section open? Specifically for the fags????

In europe Restrooms are called water closets and often they are like closets a completely sealed closet sized room with a toilet in it. I image that the gays would prefer the european stye to the american. Our style is easier for cleaning i.e. mopping.

The only thing I used was the plea of guilt which corresponds to the charges filed which is backed up by the complaint. It's not rocket science. An average level reading comprehension level is all that is required.

Those who choose to read in things never mentioned in the actual charges have a problem. Because if it wasn't charged, Larry Craig did not plead to it. So, there is no resisting arrest as some have claimed.

Examine the plea, the charges and the complaint. In all three situations conduct is the focus. Was his conduct orderly for someone just using the toilet? No. Peeping through the crack in the door again and again, touching feet, putting hands under the wall is not orderly conduct for someone minding their own business. He plead guilty to disorderly conduct which by my read means he agrees that whatever it is he did in that bathroom was not what would have been expected of someone just using the bathroom. Plus in his words in his guilty plea he says that he knew that other people would be disturbed by his disorderly behavior.

Here are his words:

I did the following: Engaged in conduct which I knew or should have known tended to arouse alarm or resentment of others which was physical (versus verbal) in nature.

For the comprehension challenged, the keys are behavior and conduct. Take a look at the aberrant behavior and conduct which would cause someone to become alarmed and you will know what he pleaded to and is accused of.

If you want to understand the truth, you read for the truth. If you want to hold on to the thoughts in your own head, you ignore the truth. Continue to ignore it as you wish.

Nowhere in his plea does he stipulate to doing these things. Thus my point that you reading quite a bit into his plea. Again, I think he was cruising the bathroom for sex, but you cannot jump to absolute certainty that your description of the events is accurate ON THE BASIS OF HIS PLEA. Again, it's hair-splitting, but you seem inclined to keep shaving away at the follicle, yourself.

His plea is to his disorderly behavior. You can decide for yourself what you feel is disorderly. If constant peeking into stalls is orderly behavior to you, that is your opinion. I am not going to separate out which particular behavior is considered disturbing because neither Larry Craig nor the police do. I take it sum and total as part of the disturbing behavior exhibited and mentioned in the complaint, charge, and guilty plea.

In the short run at least the behavior of the deviants has been exposed. In the long run perhaps disorderly conduct can be used to eliminate these aberrant behaviors in restrooms entirely.
