You know, if you saw this at some small time newspaper, or a blog without multiple levels of editors, you'd be quite forgiving.
But when the supposedly most respected newspaper on the face of the planet, with a large office building filled with writers, editors, and staffers, mistakes a key phrase from the Declaration of Independence as a "constitutional right," one has to wonder what's going on with the Old Gray Lady.

There’s a study from a couple years back that shows students at the big lib schools (Hopkins, Harvard, etc.) actually knew less about American history AFTER graduating than before. This does not suprise me.
Perhaps they don’t have myriad fact-checkers available 24/7 like the online journalists at certain forums do?
While clearly not part of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence is often referred to by federal courts, just as if it were.
This is nothing whatsoever like inventing rights from whole cloth.

Apparently, according to the Constitution that the NYT follows, Treason and sedition are not crimes, but are a duty of the press.
Well, it is an inalienable right, and the enumeration of certain rights in the Constitution shall not be construed to deny or disparage other rights retained by the People, and all powers not granted to the Federal government by the Constitution nor prohibited by it to the States are reserved to the States and to the People. Therefore, the rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness are, in essence, Constitutional rights.
Shows just how informed and with-it the New York Slimes is. I’m surprised people still trust it to give them the facts when they can’t even differentiate between the Constitution and the D of I.
