President Bush ordered the opening of all U.S. roads to Mexican trucks in 2002, but the dispute has been tied up in courts.
The long fight, begun during the Clinton administration, had ground down to a last quarrel over an environmental assessment, or study, called an EA. Opponents of the truck expansion argued that a particular kind of study was required by law and that the Bush administration was ducking that requirement.

If there's an injunction to stop this it seems like a good time to get the info out to more people, and looks like it was timed for when congress was out!
As usual, look forward to your opinions...

According to the article, the ruling is a formality because the administration is nearly finished with the study.
President Bush: our first Mexican president.
How about that? :^)
This truck deal is being sold to us on the basis that it will be good for us!
Products will be ‘cheaper’...
I am disgusted by what this president has done.
Yeah. No terrorist attacks for 6 years. Kept the Supreme court from being packed by Algore and Skerry. Restarted Missile Defense development to protect USA from Iran and North Korea. etcetc.
Just disgusting!
***So he ordered it, huh?***
And the Clintons layed the ‘groundwork’ in the 90’s
Nothing like bringing in terrorist weapons on a truck
Yes, and positioned the USA to become the NAU. Disgusting, just disgusting. Et tu Benedicte Bush.
When one of these Mexican drivers has an accident, I wonder how our law enforcement will handle the situation. Also, do these foreign drivers have insurance? And how about safety checks?
Ruling and Bush Administration a loss for the United States of America.
President Bush has gotten a lot of things right,as you have pointed out, but I am disgusted by his stance on opening the country up to Mexico. Protecting the country and upholding its laws is his job. Hopefully, the next president can fix the damage Bush has done in this area.
Jorge Bush has increased productivity. Bringing illegals in by the truckload is far more productive than bringing them in by the van loads.
How can this be happening.
“Nothing like bringing in terrorist weapons on a truck”
Why try to smuggle in a suitcase bomb, when you can bring them in by the truckloads?
Union truckers aren’t thrilled with this, as you can imagine, but where are their pals, the dems, to fight this? Nowhere to be found. (God forbid we offend Hispanic voters, legal or not.)

“In 1991 Bush proposed a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) between the United States, Mexico, and Canada, which would lower or eliminate tariffs on trade between the three nations. The proposal, favored by Canada and Mexico, was designed to help North America compete against the growing free-trade zones of Europe and Asia. The agreement was eventually taken up by his successor, Bill Clinton, and ratified by the U.S. Congress in November 1993.”

President Bush is finishing the job that his father initiated - sixteen years later.
