Idaho Sees Red Over Craig (Outrage And Betrayal In Conservative State Alert)

BOISE, IDAHO -- So what are people in one of the nation's most conservative states saying about the gay-sex scandal surrounding their much-revered, oft-elected Sen. Larry E. Craig?

Family-values organizations, powerful in Idaho, want his head. Politicians, most of them Republicans like Craig, want more facts. Gays, a seemingly small group here, are embarrassed and yet strangely appeased by the spotlight on a politician who consistently has voted against gay-rights legislation. The state's entire congressional delegation is Republican, and the party holds overwhelming majorities in both houses of the Legislature. Idahoans sided staunchly with the GOP in at least the last three presidential elections.

Craig, 62, is the second longest-serving Idahoan in Congress, having first been elected to the House in 1980. He has a record of opposing gay-rights legislation -- including gay marriage and civil unions and allowing homosexuals to serve openly in the military.

People are just fit to be tied... in deep Red Idaho. Larry Craig is the poster child for cleaning up the GOP.

People have been talking about Craig for well over ten years with various stories...this is simply the only one to stick. The way that Idaho is structured....they will simply look for a well-known name and get the guy elected based solely on that. So in the end...they will likely end up with another gay rancher dude...and a repeat in ten years of Craig.

I'm in Idaho and have voted for Larry Craig however I was done with him after he supported the amnesty bill.

He needs to resign.

On the other hand, having learned that the Idaho Statesman conducted over 300 interviews over 6-8 months trying to find some evidence of homosexuality, I do have to wonder if the newspaper hates gays or just Republican gays.

Sounds like MASS, only one would substitute "Democrat" for "Republican". But if this scandal happened in MA with a Dem pol, it wouldn't cause much of a stir...

Idaho is nearly as Republican as Utah. Its a safe lock for the GOP in presidential elections.

"I do have to wonder if the newspaper hates gays or just Republican gays."

Is it really that difficult to figure out which?

Maybe they wanted to have a story on hand when bad news broke about Hillary. The timing is a little odd.

The answer to all the corruption etc in congress is REAL term limits

One term in the Senate and two in the House

And only one choice —either the Senate or House

We need an amendment

Forget Flag burning—Marriage definition etc Amendments

TERM LIMITS

Per Article 1, Section 5 of the Constitution the Senate has the right to remove him from office. Do you think any of those protesting his actions so loudly have the balls to actually do anything about it?

"Guilty men run when no one pursueth"

Craig's hiding something or else he would have fought this and not pleaded guilty.

The bag in the stall? What a joke@! I don't know of anyone who leaves their bag out of sight while the have their pants down around their ankles in some public restroom. Plus it is against the law to have your "items" unattended at an airport.

Yeah, they only hate you if you have an R next to your name at the Times. I would have to say that Craig should dig his heels in for the time being and not listen to the LA Slimes tell him its time to go.

Leno tells his audience the gay sex scandal could change the political landscape in Washington. He says while the Democrats control the House, "the Republicans control the bathrooms

Craig is kinky and a liar. He needs to go away quickly.
