Conservative Republicans Have Only One Choice In 2008
American Chronicle ^ | August 30, 2007 | Chuck Baldwin (moderator note: Constitution Party VP candidate)

Posted on 08/30/2007 7:51:17 AM PDT by rface

Let's cut to the chase: conservative Republicans have only one choice for President in 2008: Congressman Ron Paul of Texas. Unlike the GOP frontrunners, Paul is the real deal.

No real conservative could support Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Fred Thompson, or Newt Gingrich. When it comes to historic conservative principles, each of these men is as phony as a three dollar bill. That they are now attempting to cast themselves as conservatives is more than laughable: it is downright hilarious.

[ snip ]

If one wants a true photograph of how a congressman or senator votes on conservative, constitutional issues, the best place to look is the Freedom Index in the New American Magazine. Ron Paul almost always ranks as the most conservative congressman from either chamber or either party. His current ranking is 100%, which is a score that few congressmen or senators, except Ron Paul, ever achieve. And Paul does it routinely.

See the Freedom Index here: http://www.jbs.org/files/fi-110-1.pdf

[ snip ]

Ron Paul said these words, "I have never been one who is comfortable talking about my faith in the political arena. In fact, the pandering that typically occurs in the election season I find to be distasteful. But for those who have asked, I freely confess that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior, and that I seek His guidance in all that I do. I know, as you do, that our freedoms come not from man, but from God. My record of public service reflects my reverence for the Natural Rights with which we have been endowed by a loving Creator."

Could conservative Christians ask for a testimony that is any clearer?

Should Ron Paul win the Republican nomination, he would almost certainly win the general election. His constitutional, common-sense ideals would be attractive to such a broad range of voters, I dare say that he would win a landslide victory, no matter who the Democrats nominated. Conservatives, independents, libertarians, union members, and even some liberals (mostly those who oppose the war in Iraq and Bush's Big Brother schemes) would support Ron Paul. The challenge is winning the Republican nomination.

Conservative Republicans have only one choice for President in 2008: Ron Paul.

We don't need some cult religious kook! (you-know-who!)

My problem with You-Know-Who is not his religion, but his track record as a flip-flopper on key issues such as abortion.

Here I fixed it for you:

Ron Paul will defeat Hillary Clinton

Ron Paul will be the Republican Nominee.

Ron Paul will have a landslide.

Ron Paul is a serious candidate in every way, shape, and/or form.

Ron Paul, is acceptable domestically and his foreign policy stances are essential to the existence of the United States.

Real Conservatives will look at the only choice available and choose a nominee, who can (a) kill bin laden, (b) defend our borders, abolish the IRS and other useless government agencies, restore the 2nd amendment, appoint conservative judges, and (c) move the conservative agenda forward on all issues.

Ron Paul is that man.

"You're a nutter!"

WOW!!! Great article!!! I like your reasoning here. Win the battle, the nomination, and lose the war, the election.

I know, I know, the purity of the Party ideology MUST be preserved, and to hell with the country and the world for that matter.

It must be nice to live so far outside reality.

He has blazed, like a rocket, all the way to 3% in the real polls...

R. Paul has the support that Tancredo and Hunter have combined. Tancredo and Hunter sure have made an impact in the "Conservative" GOP

If a Conservative like Ron Paul is not the GOP candidate, then Hillary deserves to win.

ROFL! Have you thought about switching to de-caf? Ron Paul is a great Congressman for his district but as leader of the free world? Come on, you're not really voting for Hillary are you? I really thought folks learned that lesson from Ross Perot's gift to the DNC.

Conservative Republicans Have Only One Choice In 2008: Ron Paul

Thanks for the laugh.

I checked out his voting record on OnTheIssues.org. Here's a quote from him on Iraq: "Iraq war is illegal; undeclared wars never end & we lose." We lose? Sounds like Harry Reid and his "war is lost" mantra.

He favors more federal funding for health coverage and same-sex partnership benefits, and opposes the death penalty and the war on drugs. This guy isn't a conservative, especially on Iraq.

Duncan Hunter may not be doing well is the polls (well Ron Paul isn't either last I checked), but he's got the most conservative voting record I've seen of all the GOP candidates.

PS - Perot never intended to win either time he ran. His sole purpose was to aid and abet Clinton, Inc.

That's why he endorsed GW Bush.....both times.

‘Ron Paul’s campaign theme song is “Shrimp boats are coming”.
To the tune of ‘The train kept a’rollin all night long’ by Aerosmith.

Interestingly, "The Train Kept a-Rollin' (All Night Long)" was first recorded by Tiny Bradshaw in 1951--the year that "Shrimp Boats" was a hit for Jo Stafford.

Please, PLEASE do not confuse “Libertarian” with “Conservative” here. While the ideals of least government being the best government are appealing, the prospect is also tantalizing. The more we grow closer to the “less government” ideal, the further we get from the means and tools to control encroaching manipulators who take advantage of apparent disinterest and mistake it for apathy.

Sure, there should not have to be clandestine wiretapping of international phone calls. After all, gentlemen do not read other gentlemen’s mail.

But “other persons” are NOT, most emphatically, all “gentlemen”. There still has to be the steel fist concealed in the velvet glove. The reality is, that much of the world does NOT consider America to be the “shining city on the hill”, and in fact, they may have little use for visions of “shining cities”.

There are two ways of addressing this conundrum, one of which is to draw up a “Fortress America”, in which all contact with the outside world is cut off, and we stand, a mighty keep that holds off all assaults at our borders, while keeping everything here locked down into a dungeon. The other extreme is to embrace our destiny as center of a world-wide empire, extending a “Pax Americana” over the world, acting as the world’s final arbitrator and meting out retributions to the offenders of the peace, doing the job that the UN or similar organizations will not do.

As it happens, this nation has vacillated between both these positions, never really finding a permanent position on the range of ways in which we project our power. We have called upon our accumlated wisdom, compiled through a great deal of trial and error (a LOT of error, by the way), picking and choosing that which seems to have worked a little better than others. Some things have not worked, and there are those who STILL keep trying to bring them back, while some perfectly adequate solutions are constantly scrapped and poorly thought out schemes are substituted in their place.

Ron Paul’s campaign theme song is “Shrimp boats are coming”.

It ought to be "Herring Boats," Mickey Katz's spoof of "Shrimp Boats," from 1951.

I also didn’t know the reference to the ‘Shrimp boat song’ was real....(chuckle)

trisham: Fred Thompson will be the Republican nominee.

rface: He's not even trying....I don't think he wants it. As far as I can see - he's just an empty suit.

Then Rface starts to quote polls: R. Paul beats both of them in poll data.

Me, I'm thinking LOL! Thompson isn't trying (according to you) and yet he's the #2 guy in the polls without trying, and so far he's run a brilliant "non-campaign" Lets look at some real poll data, from Real Clear politics, ok?
Polling Data
Poll Date Giuliani Thompson Romney McCain Huckabee Spread

It's ugly HTML, but a beautiful story, as of the time I write this, Fred Thompson, the number two guy in the polls has not even announced yet, everybody decided to announce early, the "conventional wisdom" being that the public needed more time to get to know candidates because there were more of them. Conventional wisdom is wrong, as usual. I talk to people all the time who ask "is this an election year?" and "When will this be over?" people are already burned out on half (or more) of the candidates. Fred has kept a more traditional timeline, looks presidential and in the crowd, stands head and shoulders above the rest. Fred has a very direct way of putting his finger on the truth, and cutting out all the BS that is so derigure in politics. I am a Mormon, so many assume I am for Mitt Romney, they are wrong, and I am meeting more and more Mormons who feel the same way.

In short, We should keep Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment, "Thou shalt not speak evil of any other Republican" your post(s) denigrate many other contenders, stop, for you look worse than those you disparage. (advice: it's worth every penny you pay for it, sometimes even more.)
