Let's cut to the chase: conservative Republicans have only one choice for President in 2008: Congressman Ron Paul of Texas. Unlike the GOP frontrunners, Paul is the real deal.
No real conservative could support Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Fred Thompson, or Newt Gingrich. When it comes to historic conservative principles, each of these men is as phony as a three dollar bill. That they are now attempting to cast themselves as conservatives is more than laughable: it is downright hilarious.

If one wants a true photograph of how a congressman or senator votes on conservative, constitutional issues, the best place to look is the Freedom Index in the New American Magazine. Ron Paul almost always ranks as the most conservative congressman from either chamber or either party. His current ranking is 100%, which is a score that few congressmen or senators, except Ron Paul, ever achieve. And Paul does it routinely.

Could conservative Christians ask for a testimony that is any clearer?
Should Ron Paul win the Republican nomination, he would almost certainly win the general election. His constitutional, common-sense ideals would be attractive to such a broad range of voters, I dare say that he would win a landslide victory, no matter who the Democrats nominated. Conservatives, independents, libertarians, union members, and even some liberals (mostly those who oppose the war in Iraq and Bush's Big Brother schemes) would support Ron Paul. The challenge is winning the Republican nomination.

I don’t either... I’ll listen to the man, if he ever gets around to saying something, with an open mind. I wouldn’t want to vote for someone who was only running because others pushed him into it. We’ll see how the coming weeks unfold, but in practical terms I won’t consider Thompson a candidate until he announces himself to be one.

I suppose the big deal here is the definition of “real.”
We can consider real Americans, real patriots, real soldiers, real Texans, real men, real Marines, real fathers, real husbands, real athletes, real Christians, and on and on.
There are probably many definitions for a “real” conservative. I doubt those who strictly meet the definition can win elections by themselves.
There's a huge difference between a defensive war and one that is created out of international interventionism.
Beware of any action that is instigated in the name of the United Nations.

Which one depends on whether they're trying to conserve the party or the republic.
My prediction, posted here many times, is that the next General is the democrat's to lose, whether Hitlery or someone else.
Also, the Republican Party is hell-bent on self-immolation, so they will nominate a RINO, and lose.
The only possible way for the Republicans to win is to nominate a constitutionalist, such as Ron Paul. He is the only one who actually would stand a chance of winning.
But don't worry yourself any; Dr. Ron Paul will not be the Republican nominee.

For the sake of my children and grandchildren, please let that be true.
Rest assured...I would defend you and yours as well...and I know you would do the same for me...we're all Americans. But I'm not too concerned that Muslim hordes will invade the US and ever be able to force my daughters or your daughters to wear burkas or pray to Allah. I live in rural NJ where most of the people I know hunt...and an invading Muslim horde wouldn't make it through my county into PA.
My only concern is that Al Qaeda will be able to cite America's military presence in the middle east to incite more of these barbarians to sneak across our border and blow up Americans...but I don't see how Iraq has done anything but made Al Qaeda's job easier in that respect.
I really don't believe that Paul's criticism of American policies in the middle east is based on wimpiness...more a fundamental belief (which I share) that government only ever screws things up...and that policies that may be designed to protect American interests only ever make things worse...less government intervention...home and abroad is better
I remember in the 1990's when BJ Clinton was helping the Muslim hordes in the Balkans...many Republicans (including Ron Paul) were critical of BJ and American involvement there and, in particular, saw how American help to the Muslims in Bosnia and Kosovo (and their allies including bin Laden) and the Clinton Administration's decision to let Iran ship arms to those Muslims would only help the radical Islamists set up a base there and strengthen the radical Muslim worldwide...the Republicans then have been proven right...I think those who supported the invasion of Iraq were wrong this time
That being said...the invasion is water under the bridge now...and I think Paul is wrong to advocate immediate withdrawal from Iraq...but I don't think for a minute that Paul is advocating that because he's a wimp...or because he "wants to see America lose"...that's stupid
