Outspoken rocker Ted Nugent has been told to keep his political thoughts to himself when he performs at the upcoming South Dakota State Fair after offending fans with a rant about presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
The fervent Republican blasted the Democrats during a concert on August 21, when he called Obama a "piece of s---" and Clinton a "worthless bitch". And organizers of the state fair in South Dakota don't want a repeat when he performs there on Sunday.
State Fair manager Susan Hayward says, "We don't approve of what he does at his other concerts, but there's nothing I can do about that. What I can control is what happens here at the State Fair."
Hayward explains she has told Nugent's management that the state fair is a family event in a very stern letter.
Axing Nugent's concert was not an option for the fair organizers - they sold more tickets for the Cat Scratch Fever rocker's show than any other.
My, my, Imagine that.
“The heck with Hillary and Obama!”
-Ted Nugent, South Dakota Tour, 2007
Ted’s not going to like that.......
He can castigate the Democrats far more effectiely if he avoids using swear words.
He can use whatever he wants for Obama Osama Hussein, boy wonder of the Segregationist Party. (once known as the Demo(n)crat party)
Regardless of his political opinions he comes off as a stupid nasty loudmouth. I thought a fair was supposed to be for families. His rants are so reminiscnet of Michael Moore and the gang.
Shut up and sing should apply to ALL performers, unless it’s an openly political event.
It’s comforting to hear that Ted thinks like people on the FreeRepublic. Isn’t it interesting though, that liberal entertainers can say whatever they want and whenever and no one every tells them they can’t say what they do. Such typical liberal tactics, they can dish it out, but they can’t take it, when they hear the truth they think you are picking on them and so they scream. It’s so typical.
Everything about liberals is so unjust, yet they claim to be ready to help the oppressed, how can they do that when they are the ones who do the oppressing, like telling someone who shut up when they get to run their traps all they want!
Ted does a fine job even with swearing. He is not going to change for anyone. He may keep his mouth shut until the check clears but he will have something to say then. Met him about 7 years ago at the NRA convention. Very engaging guy to talk to.
I agree. Its one reason he’ll never hold public office when the rumors arise. Shemane on the other hand would make a great representative of the people.
Ted Nugent was the first rock concert I ever went to,some 28 years ago.
My ears are still ringing.
Cat Scratch Fever!
I agree. Shut up and sing. I agree with Ted mostly but I’m offended when singers want to enlighten me with their politics.
If not, there should be a disclaimer at the beginning of the show that it will contain the singer’s political viewpoints.
Then why is Ted there?
Go Ted!!!! ;)
God bless God, Guns, Rock and Roll, the U.S., and a BRUTALLY honest and RAW Ted Nugent.
Of course, if he were ranting against Republicans, there’d be no problem.
I think telling Nuge to shutup is only an invitation to speak louder.
Yes, but I doubt he's playing during family hour. Also, his audience is not, and will not be families. The State fair will also have numerous other politicians there speaking. To shut Nugent down specifically is bogus.
Agreed, and even then at your own peril.
