ATLANTA -- Richard Jewell, the man once accused of being the Olympic Park bomber and then cleared of the attack, is dead.

OK, so he didn’t kick Reno in the balls -
SNL September 27, 1997
“The initial 1996 Olympics bombing suspect Richard Jewell makes a guest appearance, where, in a highly publicized sketch, he punches Janet Reno (played by Will Ferrell) in the gut, with Reno responding, “Same time next week?”. Jewell also appeared alongside Norm MacDonald on Weekend Update. “
It was the New York Post, not the NYT, and they settled out of court for an undisclosed amount. It was Cox Enterprises, owner of the AJC, who never settled.
The pressure only began to ease after Jewell's attorneys hired an ex-FBI agent to administer a polygraph, which Jewell reportedly passed. Despite this, in the searches of Jewell's residence, which he shared with his mother, the FBI confiscated his mother's tupperware collection and family photographs. When these items were returned, many pieces of the tupperware had been broken, and the photographs were ripped apart.
That just shows why you shouldn’t use wikipedia as a source.
Sad. My thoughts are prayers out to his family.
Wow. That’s just rotten.
Well he should have.....
Arkancide??
Are you suggesting Arkancide??
Odd. Wiki says NYP and the article that sources it says NYP as well. Where did you see NYT on Wiki?
You were right, it was NYP, sorry. Either way he got a raw deal.
RIP. Too young to go. May he rest in peace.
I found out he was dead from Wikipedia.
***
I will tell you this. I am staying away from Wikipedia. It is a killer!!
He risked his life to save others and the FBI turned the table on him.
The WIKI people are FAST!...........
Not only that, but Wikipedia has advanced notice of the autopsy results:
“Jewell died on August 29, 2007 from cynaide poisoning in his food, possibly planted there by CIA agents due to Jewell’s knowledge of President George Bush’s past involvement with the Olympic bombings.”
Sad news. Condolences to his family. Hope those responsible for publicly humiliating him sleep well at night.
He was just a wannabe hero..the feds decided it must have been him without digging deeper
The guy, smeared by the press...hope he rests in peace.
