Deported Mexican migrant mom asks Mexican president to return to US as peace ambassador

MEXICO CITY: The recently deported illegal migrant and activist who took refuge in a Chicago church for a year, has asked the Mexico's president to appoint her "peace and justice" ambassador so she can return to the United States.

Elvira Arellano, 32, who sought refuge to avoid being separated from her U.S.-born, 8-year-old son, was arrested and sent back to Mexico on Aug. 19 after traveling to Los Angeles to attend a rally for the overhaul of U.S. immigration laws. Her son stayed in the United States.

"What I'm asking for is a diplomatic visa so that I can be an ambassador for peace and justice because I'm not a terrorist and the United States can't continue treating undocumented migrants as terrorists," Arellano told reporters after meeting with President Felipe Calderon at the presidential residence, Los Pinos.

In a news release, the president's office said Arellano asked the Mexican government to help her get a visa so she can enter the United States but it did not mention Arellano's request for a diplomatic appointment.

Calderon asked Foreign Secretary Patricia Espinosa to "look into the situation that Mrs. Arellano and her son face and to approach U.S. authorities so that we can respond to (her) request," it said.

Y'all are HEARTLESS!

First off to separate a child from his mother! (he's only 8)

I don't condone her coming here illegally, but, what are you going to do?

her child was born in the USA. He is a legal citizne of the US even if she wasn't.

if he were an adult or in his late teens I could see separating them. but he is a minor child and he had NO SAY into where he was born and NO SAY into his mother's immigrant status.

And, since she was in no way doing anything ELSE illegal while she was here, she should be allowed be be reunided with her child in HIS HOME COUNTRY WHERE HE WAS BORN.

ENOUGH SAID!

That disgusting woman full of entitlement has broken our laws. Nobody prevented her from taking her child. If my children were born in another country, I sure would not leave them behind just because they were born there. Your comments make no sense.

Elvira Arellano visited the President of Mexico asking he put pressure on the USA regarding her immigration status, and send her back to the USA as a "special diplomat".

Janitor Elvira gets red carpet treatment from the President of Mexico.

After deportation, Elvira's first move was to address the Mexican legislature (where she criticized the United States).

It appears Elvira is trying to influence the measures or conduct of Mexico WRT disputes or controversies with the United States, and/or trying to defeat the measures of the United States in collusion with the Mexican government.

================================================

Elvira appears to have no visible means of support in Mexico. Is the Mexican government subsidizing her?

==================================================

We need to determine whether she and other illegal invaders are agents of foreign governments, and whether they should be prosecuted for undermining the US government.

=================================================

We know illegal invaders are sending as much as $50 billion US dollars per year back to their home countries. The money is gained from illegal employment ....and for all we know....from SS fraud, drug deals, tax evasion, ID theft, and other criminal activities.

Who in these foreign countries is getting a cut of the $50 billion?

It would be easy for the US government to trace monies from the point of departure at Western Union to determine whether WU is aiding in the hiding and conversion and transmission of the invaders illegal cash to legitimate funds............and who, on the other end, is receiving the monies.

ALL international Western Union money transfers need to be filtered and siezed as necessary to discern the money trail from the invaders on US soil, to Mexico, and Central and South American governments.

================================

American citizens are losing their savings/homes/futures......while freeloading illegal invaders own homes in the countries they emanate from, have cash in the bank, and are riding the US gravy train, sponging-off hardworking US citizens.

=================================

BACKUP In June 2007, Representative Steve King introduced legislation that would prohibit Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi from traveling to Syria violated Logan's Law. The amendment was not adopted. The Logan Act is a United States federal law that forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. It was passed in 1799 and last amended in 1994. Violation of the Logan Act is a felony, punishable under federal law with imprisonment of up to three years.

Nobody prevented the mother - if she is the mother - from taking her child with her. I presume the father has a legal say also. But where is he?

This woman should be kept from ever returning to this country. I am feed up with people demanding special perks.

I do not believe the law ever meant that children of illegal aliens should also be given citizenship.

Want the blood transfusion now or later?

Better know what you’re talking about before you post.

FACT: She was told she could take her child with her-—SHE CHOSE NOT TO.

FACT: The kid’s getting SSI checks-—and she knows he can summon her when he’s 18——

UNLESS WE AMERICANS CHANGE THE LAW-—AND THAT’S A DISTINCT POSSIBILITY.

Does she want to be the Peace Ambassador to the Peace Mom? Maybe they’ll tool around in a Peacemobile and live in the Peace Condo. Will they have Peace Meals and wipe with Peace Paper? What about clothes? Peace Panties?

Where do liberals stop with banalizing the word “Peace”?

. . .one view is that our U.N. treaty obligations would trump that, meaning that if she were appointed to the U.N. as part of Mexico’s delegation, her right to enter the U.S. would be determined by the provisions of the U.N. treaty. . .

Another good reason to get the U.S. out of the UN and get the UN out of the U.S.

“I do not believe the law ever meant that children of illegal aliens should also be given citizenship.”

I completely agree! The 14th amendment [IMHO] was to protect disenfranchised freed slaves.

I completely overlooked the possibility of this criminal taking her child to Mexico. Could she have done so without a passport for him? I don’t know. And it’s takes time and money to get one.

They allow this, and our laws, constitution, borders, and our sovereignty will have become pointless.

First off to separate a child from his mother!

No one separated the child from his mother. His mother chose to leave him here. He was free to accompany her, but she wanted to leave him here, using her own child to make propaganda points. That is the heartless part.

...what are you going to do?

In this country, under Rule of Law, NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW. We are going to deport her. She stole someone else's Social Security number, and entered illegally. Acts have consequences.

Her child was born in the USA. He is a legal citizen of the US even if she wasn't.

Legal citizens leave this country and live abroad every day. Ask military families about this. Mexico is not a war zone.

...he is a minor child and he had NO SAY into where he was born and NO SAY into his mother's immigrant status.

Who do you know that had any say into where they were born, or who their parents are? This is a faulty logic, a red herring you should be embarrassed to throw out. HIS PLIGHT IS THE DIRECT RESULT OF HIS MOTHER'S CHOICES. Why are you so sure he wanted to stay here and be separated from his mother? Children might be consulted, but as a general rule, they do not have a right to choose where they will live. I suspect this child, now or in the future, will resent having been used as a propaganda punching bag, a position his mother put him in deliberately.

...she was in no way doing anything ELSE illegal while she was here...

She entered the country twice illegally and WAS WORKING USING FRAUDULENT DOCUMENTS in a restricted area of a major airport, and has been CONVICTED OF FRAUD. Consult with someone who has been the victim of Social Security fraud. Why do you put the interests of illegal alien lawbreakers ahead of the interests of your fellow American citizens?

She should be allowed be be reunited with her child in HIS HOME COUNTRY WHERE HE WAS BORN.

A child's HOME is where his mother is, and has nothing to do with national boundaries, such as they are. No one is keeping him from being reunited with his mother -- except his mother and those who are using her. He enjoys an unconditional right to return here whenever he wants. She doesn't.

>>her child was born in the USA. He is a legal citizne of the US<<

Is there any proof of this? A link perhaps? My figures aren’t adding up. The kid is eight years old. Was she in this country eight years ago?

I am sure arrangements would have been made for her to take the child if it is her child. I don’t know the law regarding passports in this type of a case, but I do know that under special circumstances they can be rushed.

Since you put it that way, there really isn’t much difference. Terrorists are criminals too, and they suck the life out of this country just like other criminals do.

At least some of us get it. Personally, I wonder what will happen when the Great Boomer Exodus happens and we’re left with all these entitlement-grabbers who won’t/can’t work - this is why they’re promoting that we just shut up and take it, n’est-ce pas?

“What I’m asking for is a diplomatic visa so that I can be an ambassador for peace and justice because I’m not a terrorist and the United States can’t continue treating undocumented migrants as terrorists,” Arellano told reporters

This article is slightly misleading. What she actually said was:

“Pour lequel je demande est un visa diplomatique pour que je puisse être un ambassadeur pour la paix et la justice parce que je ne suis pas un terroriste et les États-Unis ne peuvent pas continuer à traiter des migrants non documentés comme les terroristes,”
