Debating Ron Paul
National Ledger ^ | Aug 29, 2007 | JB Williams

Ron Paul supporters are fast making a name for themselves on the web. Not because they are just web savvy, but because they have proven themselves to be the best at hacking on-line polls, invalidating conservative polling data on behalf of their candidate. It seems that even Democrat 527 MoveOn.org is now onboard the Ron Paul anti-war train.

Despite the fact that presidential candidate Ron Paul can not score better than 3% in any legitimate national poll, his supporters claim he is “the conservative” candidate to beat in the 2008 Republican race for the White House. Despite his less than conservative voting record in congress and his Teddy Kennedy like position on the war on terror in Iraq, his supporters think he is the most “conservative” candidate in the race. How?

Agreed...

Maybe we should form a new party just for the occasion?

“A little myopic aren’t we? Paul is against this nation-building mess we are involved in, that’s all. He supported going after Bin Laden and still does.”

This is exactly how Teddy Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Hugo Chavez, Jane Fonda and Cindy Sheehan explain their position...

See the problem yet?

Long Beach California takes lunch between noon - 1 PST so it gets a little quiet around the Paul threads in that timeframe. There are only a couple of actual people behind these Paul supporters.

Come on, are you serious in this line of defense?

Ron Paul’s message on Iraq is neither new or original. Liberals made the exact same arguments against Vietnam. Sheehan and Fonda, every Democrat except Joe Lieberman, has been spewing the same garbage for years and you think Ron Paul thought this up on his own and is “attracting liberals” to a new idea?

Ron Paul has adopted the leftist anti-war anti-America drivel, and you think it’s a grassroots movement of Ron Paul’s?

Get real!

When liberals support a Republican candidate, you can bet your life that it isn’t because he’s a “conservative.”

LOL you are not making a good showing here my friend, unless you are applying for a job with the circus.

SJackson you stated that you were “not that familiar with American history”. So I gave you a simple article to look at. Given your reply you misled me. It appears you already have your mind made up and are hitching your horse to a candidate that supports a losing issue. Good luck to you.

That's just a bit of sarcase, since imo the GOP has never been a party of non-intervention, though non-interventionists have certainly been Republicans.

Misleading, I ask for examples of non-interventionist Republican leadership on the world stage, you give me the America First Committee. That's misleading.

BTW, when we went to war, the America First Committee disbanded within days so as not to hurt the war effort, for the war they were opposed to. GOP used to be a party of non-intervention.

Sorry Steve, you already flunked the class...

Still not willing to be honest huh? Don’t worry. Your kindergarten argument in transparent in this arena... LOL

Now, run along and do a search for polls that have been “hacked” by Paul supporters, for the purpose of spamming the poll....

You are a good example of why some are so easily fooled into thinking Ron Paul is a “conservative” when his base support is coming from MoveOn.org, Code Pinko and DU....

He probably does, but his followers don’t seem aware...

Amazing how one can find a way to feel good about joining leftists they claim to oppose, isn’t it?

I guess politics is like love, BLIND!

Do you think the good doctor is aware he’s a Soros trojan horse?

I think it's fair to say the Paul campaign is deaf to where their support comes from. I saw that based on uncritized support from less than tasteful areas, as well as the comment from his campaign in the article below. When asked how the campaign feels about having an indicted drug dealer in Canada organizing local support groups, the response,

Why Is This Canadian Pot Dealer Campaigning for Ron Paul?

...

"It's my belief," says Emery, who has been a follower of Paul, a 10-term Texas congressman, for decades, "that if Ron were elected, he'd rescind the indictment against me immediately. Or at least he'd appoint an attorney general who would pardon any nonviolent drug offender, clear out the jails, and end the drug war."

Paul's communications director, Jesse Benton, says the fledgling campaign welcomes all support. But Emery shouldn't necessarily expect amnesty from a Paul administration. "You would see a cooling of the federal war on drugs [under Paul]," Benton says. "But Ron believes in the rule of law, and I don't think this guy should look to Ron for him getting off scot-free."

Ah, but Lindsey Lohan has attributes that RP only wishes he had.

A penchant for boozing it up and behaving badly in public? Those would hardly stand out in Congress. Let's face it -- Lindsey on her worst day is no Wilbur Mills.

On the other hand, Ron would look mighty odd with a pair of Ds. And I don't mean batteries.
