U.S. most armed country with 90 guns per 100 people
By Laura MacInnis 28 minutes ago
The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world, a report released on Tuesday said.
U.S. citizens own 270 million of the world's 875 million known firearms, according to the Small Arms Survey 2007 by the Geneva-based Graduate Institute of International Studies.
About 4.5 million of the 8 million new guns manufactured worldwide each year are purchased in the United States, it said.
"There is roughly one firearm for every seven people worldwide. Without the United States, though, this drops to about one firearm per 10 people," it said.
India had the world's second-largest civilian gun arsenal, with an estimated 46 million firearms outside law enforcement and the military, though this represented just four guns per 100 people there. China, ranked third with 40 million privately held guns, had 3 firearms per 100 people.
Germany, France, Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil and Russia were next in the ranking of country's overall civilian gun arsenals.
On a per-capita basis, Yemen had the second most heavily armed citizenry behind the United States, with 61 guns per 100 people, followed by Finland with 56, Switzerland with 46, Iraq with 39 and Serbia with 38.

Which means one way or another the citizens of this nation will always remain free.
i’m doin my share, but i might be able to find some more.
9 out of 10 Americans own guns. That IS a problem.
The answer to this problem is that Americans need to buy more guns.

“U.S. most armed country with 90 guns per 100 people”
Good.
We’re also the most free people, and the two are very much linked.
Every man in Texas owns 4 guns - a shotgun for birds, a large caliber rifle for big game, a .22 rifle for 4-legged varmints, and a pistol for 2-legged varmints. When his daddy dies, he owns 8 guns.
Since everyone should have a rifle, a shotgun, a pistol and a backup pistol, there should be 400 guns for every 100 people!!
There must be about 30 people who have no guns to compensate for me.
That’s .90 guns per person on average....I guess I’m WAY better than average.
When it come to guns I’m kinda like my wife & shoes. I like to have one for every outfit/occasion.
In India, it’s legal for citizens to own licensed firearms.
Well if intention is 9/10ths of the act, then I’m doing my share too (I own 9/10ths of a gun. I expect to own the other 10th next month sometime.)
News Flash! United States ranked #1 in freedom!!
“Known firearms”. Most countries also have a huge black market for guns of all types. Even countries that ban all firearms have underground gun markets, and most of the countries of Europe are awash in guns left over from 2 world wars.
Well then, I’d better bolster up my personal arsenal to take up the slack.
I have mine... do you have yours...
No?
