Ron Paul supporters urged to attend MoveOn.org Rally !
RonPaul MeetUp Group ^ | 26 August 2007 | David Osborne

Posted on 08/26/2007 10:44:41 AM PDT by davidosborne

Many of you know that I help organize the Duncan Hunter "meetup" group(s). I decided to peek in at the "competition" and found it very interesting that Ron Paul supporters are being urged to attend the MoveOn.org rally....

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/1/boards/view/viewthread?thread=3421862

I post this because I know there are a lot of folks on FR that support Ron Paul.. I just wonder if you are participating in this effort.. or what you think about this whole business of catering to MoveOn.org

.... quote from an active Ron Paul supporter

Somebody posted a thread concerning moveon, and letting their members know about Ron Paul. As a member of moveon.org, I received today an invitation to create an anti-war rally on August 28th. They will be doing rallies all across the nation on that day. We should invade this event. During the rally, bring anti-war stickers, signs, and flags -- and also Ron Paul signs. Introduce moveon members to Ron Paul, the REAL anti-war candidate! Anti-war people will ask about Ron Paul and be introduced to him on that day. Don't be rude, just gently introduce people to the peace candidate. Moveon.org is well cordinated, so if enough of our people show up at their rallies, we might be able to convert a huge number of people.

I have already created a moveon.org anti-war rally, on the 28th at 7pm, right outisde of the West Covina Mall. Please, everybody who can in this group, COME. It's on the corner of Vincent and Plaza Drive in West Covina.

Sorry for the confusion. I am new on this board, so I messed up the recipients of my postings. If you look on the previous page, my first post was supposed to go to everyone, while my 2nd post was supposed to go to “Captain Kirk”, not “George W. Bush. Sorry for the confusion. Please, everybody, click back on the last page to see my previous 2 posts. They are at the bottom of the page. Ron Paul wants to abolish the income tax, introduced a bill that defines life as starting at conception, is strongly pro-gun (receiving an A+ from the Gun Owners of America), and has won so many awards from taxpayers associations that he has probably lost count. He continually votes for small government, earning him the nickname “Dr. No”. Therefore, I believe it is very wrong to equate all Ron Paul supporters with moveon.org members. I started to rally because many moveon.org members hold war issues above all, and thus Ron Paul’s non-interventionist forgien policy might be very attractive to them. In the same way, we had a Ron Paul rally this weekend at a gun show, because gun enthusiasts would probably love the fact that Ron Paul has NEVER voted for a federal restrcition on gun ownership! But I am not a bleeding-heart liberal. Far from it. I DISAGREE with almost everything else moveon.org says. I believe in small government.

Everyone should go to http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/, and take a look at Ron Paul’s consistent positions on the issues. You will see that they are NOTHING like the positions of the moveon.org orginization. However, moveon members might be attracted to Ron Paul’s non-interventionist foreign policy. Many conservatives are attracted to it too, because the streching of our military drains so much money. You cannot abolish the IRS (as Ron Paul wants to do), without adopting a non-interventionist foreign policy. The current policy we have, we need to borrow, tax, or print money to sponser. The printing of money causes massive inflation. Ron Paul wants to abolish the unconstitutional federal reserve. Money should be gold and silver, and not printed money out of thin air. Ron Paul is the only consistent small government conservative in this race, and I would urge everybody to check out his positions.

We Ron Paul supporters are inclusive and friendly. Some of the best friends I have, I have made in the past few months at Ron Paul grassroots campaign events. There are former Democrats, hard-core conservative Republicans, and many independents in the group. This is because the freedom message brings people together, it doesn’t divide us. I believe the original post on this thread was very wrong and very unfair by blindly dividing people into groups. Please check out Ron Paul’s positions yourself, and you will find that they are very pro-liberty, anti-tax, pro-small government, and pro-constitution. This freedom philosophy is very popular to many different types of people. We are proud of this. I recommend you all watch these videos, of an Alabama pastor who supports Ron Paul because of his strong constitutional values:

Do you think he will at least kill the AmeriCorps program (that Slick created and Bush continues), or the National Endowment for the Arts? Has he made a proposal to cut any federal program?

But your failure to ping does put the lie to your claim about joking, as I set forth above, twice.

Because it was a joke. I wasn't aware of any FReeper provision that you have to PING someone when you post graphics or icons, just if you mention their name specifically.

I begin to suspect you're being deliberately obtuse, in a trollish kind of way.

You're being petty, Petronski. And childish. And the other word in post #42 that was deleted.

You claimed you were making a joke to me. But the offending post did not ping me. Therefore it is easy to conclude your claim is a weak afterthought having no basis in your original intent.

He’s the bloody Peace candidate!

I hope you didn't just figure that out. I thought RP had been pretty blatant myself.

OTOH, many of us don't believe he'd pull all the troops out right away. Having smashed Iraq's armed forces, we do have an obligation to defend Iraq from her loathsome neighbors at our remote bases. But I don't doubt that a large majority of our infantry would come home in less than six months under an RP administration. We'd defend the country from our remote bases and from Kurdistan until an adequate Iraqi military could be fielded.

You're right that Papa Bush was a pretty weak candidate, but I don't think he was weak enough to lose to clinton if Perot had not been taking so many conservative votes away from him.

But what you're advocating is the principle that unless you support position A or position B then you should have no say in the matter of who represents you. Or that you have no right to run for office. Considering the one party system with two facets is nothing better than advocating differing levels of socialism why should I vote for either one? I'm conservative (Classical Liberal/states rights) and my views haven't been represented in national government for the past 20 years, except for Rep. Paul. Too many party faithful complain that the general electorate is apathetic and to an extent perhaps they are. But there are many of us that don't see a candidate advocating their views and there's no reason I'm going to waste my time going to the booth to vote simply so the 'other guy' doesn't get in.

It is not a God given right to only face one opponent in the political arena and if your campaign is so weak that you can't stave off defeat you didn't deserve to win anyway. Bush didn't deserve to win and he didn't win the voters over to his way of thinking. It had nothing to do with Perot

So, EEE, did you post Petronski's own personal infringing copy of the Wyler's packets or something?

Okay, I'm just going to laugh my ass off and crack open a beer. I don't care, I'm not going to sit here and wonder about whether or not cheesy pictures of Wyler's mix, the word "Attention" written in a half-dozen languages, or a laughing cartoon dog specifically belongs to some FReeper.

Someone on this thread CLEARLY has issues.

Where exactly is the plagiarism?

I don't know, and I don't care. But just call me Joe Biden from here on out.

Yeah you're right. I guess you should sue me then for plagiarism.

I’m not immediately aware that plagiarism is actionable.

However, plagiarism like yours IS shameful.

I'm very glad you Ron Paulers are friendly and inclusive.

Too bad you chose Alex Jones as your spokesman.

Thusly, pardon us if we are hostile and exclusive as to your campaign.

I'm an Austinite, and I know the tentacles of Texan Rats in this campaign. 'Rather' interesting.

A lost war, a people slaughtered by the millions by extremists for having the audacity to want freeedom.

Uh, that's already happened (a lost war, people slaughtered by the millions by extremists). I don't remember the Iraqi people asking for "freedom".

This was all Bush & Company's doing. Ron Paul had nothing to do with it, and if he had been in charge, I doubt that this disastrous war for oil would have happened.

You remain either ignorant of the definition of plagiarism or merely deliberately obtuse in a trollish kind of way.
