Ron Paul supporters urged to attend MoveOn.org Rally !
RonPaul MeetUp Group ^ | 26 August 2007 | David Osborne

Posted on 08/26/2007 10:44:41 AM PDT by davidosborne

Many of you know that I help organize the Duncan Hunter "meetup" group(s). I decided to peek in at the "competition" and found it very interesting that Ron Paul supporters are being urged to attend the MoveOn.org rally....

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/1/boards/view/viewthread?thread=3421862

I post this because I know there are a lot of folks on FR that support Ron Paul.. I just wonder if you are participating in this effort.. or what you think about this whole business of catering to MoveOn.org

.... quote from an active Ron Paul supporter

Somebody posted a thread concerning moveon, and letting their members know about Ron Paul. As a member of moveon.org, I received today an invitation to create an anti-war rally on August 28th. They will be doing rallies all across the nation on that day. We should invade this event. During the rally, bring anti-war stickers, signs, and flags -- and also Ron Paul signs. Introduce moveon members to Ron Paul, the REAL anti-war candidate! Anti-war people will ask about Ron Paul and be introduced to him on that day. Don't be rude, just gently introduce people to the peace candidate. Moveon.org is well cordinated, so if enough of our people show up at their rallies, we might be able to convert a huge number of people.

I have already created a moveon.org anti-war rally, on the 28th at 7pm, right outisde of the West Covina Mall. Please, everybody who can in this group, COME. It's on the corner of Vincent and Plaza Drive in West Covina.

I think we should all submit to the extreme knowledge and experience of BillBears. Who I am to argue with him about the islamic terrorist enemy, after all I was born and raised in Lebanon for 22 years, I am a Christian who lived 15 years of the Lebanese war and knew very well who the islamic terrorist enemy is, but all this does not matter. Let us all kneel in front of BillBears and her great knowledge.

Well, I am not confused in the least. I was not speaking of content, I was criticizing attitude. I do not expect Conservatives to behave like rude and spiteful children.

**POST INVASION REPORT**

The event was a success. It went far more smothly than I anticipated. There were maybe 10 Ron Paul supporters, and 30 moveon.org members. Those are just my guesstimates. A minority of moveon members took exception to the Ron Paul signs. One guy even raised his voice, and demanded that they be taken down or he would leave. He said this should just be an anti-war event, and not to promote a particular candidate. For the most part, however, people got along. One moveon.org member even took up a Ron Paul sign on his own and waved it. I did not hear any reports that we converted anybody, but we at least increased his name recognitition among the crowd. Perhaps people will google “Ron Paul” later to find out more. The most significant thing that happened is that a reporter for the San Gabriel Valley Tribune showed up, and asked us questions. I tried to stress that the moveon.org group, and the Ron Paul supporters are not affiliated with each other, but anti-war people can support Ron Paul due to his non-interventionist foreign policy. We’ll see if there’s a story about it tomorrow. I’ll post pictures eventually. My friend Bill took pictures, and he’ll hopefully have them up tonight, so I can post them here either tonight or tomorrow. We got a lot of honks, by the way.

“You’re making the isolationist argument of the 1930’s, which was so discredited that the Democrats were able to rule for 50 year.”

Ron Paul is a non-interventionist, not an isolationist. He supports free trade.

“How many of Paul’s supporters do you think will attend, just one or two or all 6?”

I estimate about 10 Ron Paul supporters showed up. We crashed their rally, made noise, got some people upset at us, and got some people to like us. We did our job.

“I do not expect Conservatives to behave like rude and spiteful children.”

In my own life experience, Conservatism followed maturity.

It was FReeper George W. Bush who posted pictures and stuff earlier to me with my thanks.

Yeah but I did get the pic from Liz. Perhaps I should acknowledge who I get pics from. I keep them on a Photobucket account because a lot of them are scattered around at NYTimes and other places so they can make them disappear easily. At Photobucket, they'd have to find them then send a takedown notice to get rid of them and since I keep a copy on my computer, I could upload them again elsewhere. So I try to make sure that we have those pics of Rudi available. Ones like the one at the right that speaks for itself.

That would be interesting to actually get some free press coverage for RP's campaign. We really need the name recognition in the urban centers.

I’ll post pictures eventually. My friend Bill took pictures, and he’ll hopefully have them up tonight, so I can post them here either tonight or tomorrow. We got a lot of honks, by the way.

Sounds like you guys did really well. I'm glad you didn't encounter any of the hard Lefties, a nasty bunch, sometimes violent. I'll look forward to the photos and maybe a news article.

Who was banned, one of the moonbats for Ron Paul?

Yeah, who was it? I'm still stuck in Kuwait with intermittent internet access. I can't go searching through. Did a Paulie completely lose it?

One down...a good start? ;-)

I almost missed this ping. Thanks for the reply, and thanks for your efforts in wanting to become a veteran.

One “theoretical girl” who signed up the day she was banned. She was a Left Winger who supported Ron Paul’s conservative principle, or some such gibberish. I also read elsewhere she had some nasty things to say about Israel. What a surprise.

I like the pic of you with RP's new book. Looks to me like you did well in raising RP's name recognition and spreading his message.

Good work!

To top it off, this thread which was posted to attack Ron Paul and your event was so successful (over 1200 posts in late August!!!) that somehow the mods had to remove it from Breaking News, having themselves promoted it to Breaking News to begin with.

Yeah, I think your event was a success in more ways than one.

I’m not so big on the swift zotting that goes on around here, but I think it was pretty clear that Karsten, at least, was with Moveon.org. Theoreticalgirl came along with him. So I guess they were both dispatched with pretty quickly. (I missed her post, but if it is as bad as jveritas said it was, she was asking for the boot.)

Well, it looks like Karsten is still here, so it must be just Theoreticalgirl.

In case you have not gotten the name, it was “theoretical girl” who was banned. I do not know the reason for the ban as the post that got her band was eliminated.

Georgie Porgie, you’re priceless!!!!!

Three days ago, Karsten was a “wingnut” who would “be lucky if six show up.” Today, he exceeded your expectations by 50% and is a success! Can I get some of those Wonderland ‘shrooms, please?
