Funny... the statue looks like a huge coil of BM to me...
Correct me if I’m wrong, but what it sounds like is that you would like to see Fresno police stop people on the street to verify their immigration status. It also sounds like you’d like them to pull people over and check their status as well. Should they also go to K-12 schools and check out the kids, then go to their homes and pick up the parents? Should they raid businesses in town?
How much time to you think should be devoted to this? Would you like to see 25, 50, 75% or more of an officer’s shift devoted to this?
There are probably thousands of illegals in Fresno. It would take months to make a dent. During that time other police duties would be ignored.
Officers today spend time on the most important crimes. Do we simply let those crimes rot? Do we tell the officers to quit making those felony arrests, filling out reports for for them and allow the citizens of Fresno to be a the felony perps mercy?
Look, if we demand enforcement by the feds, deny government funded benefits and start taking people that hire them down, the illegals will repatriate on their own. And that’s what all of us want.
I appreciate your point of view. Sorry we couldn’t agree completely.
Unfortunately, Victor Davis Hanson pretty much verified that in his writings about the area, which is where his family has lived for generations.
His book, Mexifornia, talks about it, and he's no rabid alien-hater; if anything, he's sympathetic to their plight, but does not deny the unintended consequences.
My bad! I deleted part of the link in my initial post. Here’s the corrected link. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1882775/posts
Nice rant. Humane and disgusted at the same time.
Trouble is, how many politicians remain capable of understanding that this is what most conservatives, most Americans, want and/or know to be proper?

Great commentary! If all the christian churches, not just LDS, followed this lead, we wouldn’t have an illegal problem!
Huh? You came out of left field with your argument.
There has to be a malternative to the status quo, I hope someone hops on it.
Thanks for the update. I’ve been waiting to see what Hazelton would do now.
Even though the article you posted says the chances of being overturned are slim, I keep thinking back to when the Amish went to court after court about being able to school their children themselves. All courts said ‘no’ until the final SC determination, which was in their favor. We can’t give up on this yet, either.
