Couldn't Believe My Eyes (Local Wal-Mart turned blind eye to in-store indecent exposure)
8-25-2007 | RightFighter

Posted on 08/24/2007 10:17:50 PM PDT by RightFighter

I was walking through Wal-Mart this evening with my 9-year old son picking up some groceries. When we were all done, we went to the magazine section just prior to checking out. While I was standing there, I saw a young man of about 25-30 years old walking toward the register next to the magazines. Something struck me as odd, and I finally realized that it was his pants - they were down around his mid-thigh, so that his boxer shorts were fully exposed.

The next thing I noticed, and I will forever rue the day that I saw this, was that his boxer shorts were wide open in the front. I'll leave the rest up to your imaginations, since, sadly, it was a reality for me.

I am not normally the type to complain about things, but I felt this was necessary, so I went to the Customer Service counter and told the girl about what I saw. She looked at me with wide eyes, and promptly did NOTHING.

I then went out the door, and I stopped and told the greeter at the door that there was this situation and that I'd told the customer service girl and she had done nothing. The greeter told me that it was probably because Wal-Mart's policy doesn't allow employees to say anything to a customer that the customer might deem offensive. I said, "But this man is exposing himself in your store. That is against the law. It's not a matter of insulting him - you should be having him arrested."

I got the wide-eyed look again and more of the inaction the customer service girl gave me.

Then, in the parking lot, I saw a police officer. I tried to flag her down, but she drove right by me.

The question is, what more should I / could I have done?

Bonus Question: What fact is this narrative leaving out that you are just begging for?

I was in WalMart with my kid the other day. There was a 20-something woman in a white, sheer, skin-tight tank top with no bra. Alex is 16 months old and even he stared. The funny thing was, multiple male employees kept coming up to her asking if she needed help, then stalling to keep her attention. Since when do WalMart employees try to assist customers? Even more funny was the reaction from customers: males stared, females stared, then glared. The braless wonder was “udderly” (pun intended) clueless. Or she’s perfected the art of acting clueless.

Personally, I thought it was pathetic.

Ridiculous! I was exchanging something at our local Wal-Mart, I’m not one to return or exchange things normally.

Having my replaced item and receipt in the tied off bag I attempted to enter the rest room when an employee stopped me.
She pointed me to a sign which read; “no merchandise allowed inside”. When I explained to her my package was mine and was paid for, and did she want to see the receipt, she reiterated the sign.

Not being able to continue my path I turned around and walked out the main doors. How silly, I couldn't take my bag with me inside the rest room, but I could walk right out of the store with the bag. I was so unnerved by this I walked back into the store and called management. Someone needs to tell this bimbo what that sign really means.
I guess that’s why she worked at Wal-Mart....no thinking needed!

Well...any father or husband in that place should have put a foot in this kids ass. I would have. I would have thrown him out of the store if he didn’t put his pants up. Period.

Yes, we're all very impressed macho dude! Getting arrested for assault in front of your kid is SO cool!

You do? Excellent! Do you wear sheet tank tops? Kidding. Just kidding.

I’ve never been asked if I need help at WalMart. But I rarely shop there, and the store I go to is usually very chaotic and crowded.

There was a guy years back attending UC Berkeley, going to class totally NAKED. He was known as the naked guy. The campus did nothing. After a while he started showing up in shopping malls totally naked. My girlfriend at the time was the manager at one of the malls and had to ask him to leave. A few years later naked guy committed suicide. True story.

The police could do nothing about him parading around naked because Berkeley had no public nudity laws. As long as he wasn't creating a disturbance, they could nothing.

The University of California, Berkeley did finally get involved. But only after a couple of ladies filed sexual harassment complaints against him. The naked guy had not interacted with these women nor threatened them but they claimed that his constant nudity was disturbing them. I don't remember exactly what action Cal took but it was pretty trivial.

I'm not surprised to hear that he committed suicide. Obviously, he was a pretty disturbed man.

She might be clueless about a lot of things but she knows perfectly well what type of response she will get to her revealing attire.

Yep, I think you’re right. It’s just a little scary to think that someone actually thinks that it’s okay to go out in public like that - you know, she gets dressed, looks in the mirror and thinks, “Yeah, you can definitely see my boobs and that’s okay. Now where did I put my car keys?”.

I get embarrassed if my bra strap shows!

Some random stories.

My daughter was thew security manager of a new discount store in Diamond Bar CA. She was assigned to open the store for her great work in other stores. Also, the local cops would back her up and she showed up in court to close cases.

The first week in DB a man was exposing himself to children in the parking lot. She called the cops (LASO) they said the case was not enough to warrant a response. She talked to the Lt. and he actually said, the guy would probably be gone by the time they got there. She said she had witnesses and a license plate number. He said they had other things going on.

The dirtiest store I've ever been in was a WalMart in Hood River OR. At the men's rooms was a sign saying to call the manager if the mens room was not satisfactory. I did. That was 3 years ago. Still waiting for a response.

The WMs in south CA are generally not clean. Stuff is all over the floor, graffiti in the rest rooms, and tight aisles. I have been to some very clean WMs in the south and midwest.

In socal, I go to Target. They are generally cleaner and wider aisles.

Berkeley being Berkeley, I'm sure they weren't concerned with the public nudity, but you'd at least think they'd consider hygene issues. Who'd want to sit in the same classroom seat that naked, sweaty-ass guy sat in before you?

I have not but that means absolutely nothing since it is purely anecdotal. Indecent exposure is seldom reported in the newspaper and it is in the best interest of the retail establishment to keep things like this quiet.

Happened at Sears when I worked there in the early 1990s. A man was caught on the security camera "pleasuring" himself with a few items of Sears' fine collection of sexy, ladies' undergarments.

The store's undercover security guard, a big, biker-dude with a serious mullett (this was the early 1990s) had to keep from laughing when he went to apprehend the guy.

And no, for those who might ask, he wasn't an illegal Mexican immigrant. Just a regular, run-of-the-mill homegrown pervert.

Walmart isn’t the safest place for kids:

Some parents are idiots in this respect. I work as an overnight stocker at WM (10 pm to 6;30 am -- Retired Old Fud beer-money job.).

Around 2 am this tiny little girl, about six or seven, comes up to me and asks where the shoe department is. I ask her what does she want, meanwhile looking for her mom. She says, "My mom left her keys on one of the benches and sent me back to get them." My hair goes Afro. What is the mother thinking?

I escort the kid to the bench and she finds the keys. I am escorting her back to the front door, intending to walk with her to the car and suggest to the mother that she not do this again (ahem). The kid streaks out the store ahead of me but I get there in time to see her get in the car and mom drives away.

This kid could have been molested or grabbed while the idiot mom waited 15 minutes or more before checking on the kid. And then she would have sued WM.

I suppose that Californians, being the elitists they are, eschew “dirtying themselves”shopping in Walmarts and go to the other stores in the Area.

To be honest with you I simply refuse to believe that Walmart would allow ANY of it’s stores to deteriorate to the level you have described. They have a literally perfect business model and fully realize that keeping a store neat and clean is VERY high on the list that insures continued profitability and growth.

I have been all over the nation in the past 10-15 years and have visited among others Walmart stores in California, in LA specifically and have never witnessed what you describe. Could it happen? Sure but no way would it be allowed to continue.

AS much as the lib media despises Walmart you can bet that if there was ANY sort of a shortcoming in these stores they would be putting it on page 1 above the fold, right side and play it up for weeks. The fact I have never seen anything except for here tells me it is a problem that is either totally insignificant or else totally manufactured by trolls who increasingly visit this site.

It is well known that liberals despise Walmart and would NEVER admit to shopping there (of course they do)and would think nothing of simply spreading lies about the company in a futile attempt to do it harm.
