My cellphone has not stopped ringing for the past ten minutes. Various sources inform that an announcement will come within the next few minutes from the Cuban government on Cuban TV and media. Stay tuned and we'll see if we've been manipulated once again or if today is the birth date of Cuba's liberty.
Update: Here's the deal and what I know up to now, as of 1500 hours, August 24, 2007:
First, South Florida Law Enforcement is on alert. An EOC (Emergency Operations Center) has been set-up and manned somewhere in Homestead.
Im also told Local and State government agencies have food, bottled water, and other necessities - valued in the millions - stored and/or staged in Homestead at or near the EOC.
I am presently verifying whether Coast Guard and DHS and Border Patrol agencies are on high alert. (Verified 01445)
Local News stations are abuzz, mostly on reports very much like the above, with massive law enforcemnt mobilizations throughout Dade county.
Local emergency medical services notified to be on alert by law enforcement agencies.
Im told - and still awaiting confirmation - that buses in Havana have been recalled to terminals and that Cuban workers have been sent home. (still unconfirmed 1500)
Again, I am loathe to publish the title as I did in this post, but I would be remiss in not telling you all what I know, right now. All of my sources are good but the Cuban government, as we all know, is masterful at controlling media and information and we should not rule out that this and last Friday's "news" have been and are feelers to see what the reactions are here, as well as who reacts within the island. If we've been duped we've been duped. If not, then bust out the champagne.
Once again, these may all be rumor to discredit us and other media sources. All we can do is exactly what we've been doing for quite some time now: wait and see.
More from Killcastro, with sources from within Cuba.
Well, here it is the following Monday and there’s nothing in the news confirming anything. Another false rumor, or a massive cover-up?
possibly.
possibily both.
Thailand?
Not like completely dead. Then all you can do is look through their pockets for loose change.
Once, again...Moon over Parador. He’s been hanging in a meat locker for a year, waiting until his brother has everything in line.
Well, the job may have gone something like this:
Fidel, saying nothing, has a leg spasm, and a bucket bounces to the floor, and he is muerto.
Raoul: "My brother is gone, I am now in charge."
Generals: "Oh, of course you are. Whatever you say El Commandante."
Raoul: "I want you to ease up on the people, let them express themselves freely."
Generals (rolling eyes): "Whatever you say El Commandante."
Raoul: "And I want everyone to get a raise."
Generals (snickering): "Whatever you say El Commandante."
Raoul: "And remind the people that I am in charge."
Generals: "Oh, si. You are in charge, El Commandante."
Raoul: "I will leave you now, I must inform the people of these changes."
Generals (guns out): "Not so fast, El Commandante."
>>King Arthur: I am Arthur, King of the Britons.
“Well, I didnt vote for you.”
Help! Help! I’m being repressed!
(And the Weekend at Bernie’s is now Labor Day Week at Bernie’s.
“Tourism is okay. Thats not what I was talking about. Cuba became some Americans whorehouse back in the old days. I remember it too well. I would hope it wouldnt go back to that kind of tourism.”
I was in Jamaica several years back. It was quiet end of year due to concerns about elections. Met a guy at the hotel bar at the beach. He retold to me with pride how he had purchased the niece of a man for $5 US.
I barely could hold back my revulsion. But I guess this is the kind of tourism there is today under Fidel.
Please let’s go back to the old days of tourism if this is the new tourism.
Somehow I missed this rumor on Friday.
Today, news in Miami (”all local, all the time”!!) is claiming he’s not dead.
http://www.cfnews13.com/News/Local/2007/8/26/castro_is_not_dead.html
Still. But I don’t mind the ‘repeats’, I’ve been away from the computer, and missed the most recent stories.
I suspect Chavez is eyeing up the situation. Did Castro have any useful idiots (besides his brother) lined up to succeed him?
Mmmm, that sounds good.
That's a good start. Whoopi Goldberg had some nonsensical, pro-commie comments. I was thinking, let's send them with a one way ticket. But Cubans have suffered enough..
Please don’t have your readers on your blog be so naive...
Real simple...HE IS DEAD.....ESTA MUERTO!.....Please don’t have your readers on your blog be so naive!.....Seriously think about it, you know and I know..... if he is NOT then let the Cuban Government prove it to the world. It won’t because they are preparing for the worst when they announce his death....and they want to slowly let it out to make that transition. On another point you know why they won’t right now, because Cuban Military and US Military have been in secret talks for months now....anyone can read the news internationally...Raul has started to make cautious changes in Cuba which is a sign of plans for political and economic reform. Since he took over dozens of dissidents have been released. The Cuban Military has been extending there talks out to Washington and there is talk of easing communist controls on property and agricultural production. Read the news....three political prisoners have been freed, the latest being Armando Betancourt Reina, a journalist jailed for 15 months after reporting on the eviction of a family in Camagüey. As I do my research online....analysts say Raul was experimenting with stealth reforms to improve living conditions and morale without eroding government control. Raul wants to make life more bearable. He made his points in his speech on July 26th 2007, besides he has been in the dark for years behind Fidel and now he wants to do it a little different. Castro is DEAD.
It never ceases to amaze me how ordinarily smart people sometimes failt to put two and two together. To wit: how anyone can think fidel castro is not dead. See, at this point, the onus is not upon us to prove he’s dead, the onus is upon the Cuban government to prove he’s alive. And I can tell you right here and now, some little “editorial” supposedly written by fidel castro in a communist rag in Cuba aint gonna cut it.
CNN is in Cuba. CBS, the AP and who know how many other members of the esteemed heads up their butts when it comes to fidel castro MSM. If fidel castro were alive, and the Cuban government had any inclination to prove same, they would allow any one of these news sources access to the dictator, if even for a photo op.
fidel castro is dead. Worm food. Sleeping with the fishes. Playing pattycake with Satan.
(from Babalu)
Good riddance if true. Finally he will do something useful: feed worms and bacteria.
Sad, isn’t it? Sin has flourished in Cuba and everywhere else. Life has little meaning anymore and children are bought and sold for little more than beer money. It’s happening all over the world. I don’t know how God can stay our punishment.
It’s pretty damn horrible. One thing I’m proud of the President is for trying to stem the tide of the international slave trade. It’s awful what is being done to human beings.
Good to see you too, friend!
Hopefully I can get back to posting when work slows down a bit. Hope yours picks up in Sept.
Don’t worry, martin and I will keep the standards low until you return.
