Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter shares his Christian faith and talks about America's spiritual heritage.

That should be worrisome. While we don't necessarily need someone who wears their faith on their sleeve, many peoples' treatment of faith as a sort of unimportant "appendage" to our leaders' worldviews fail to see it for it is: the FOUNDATION of that worldview. What is Fred Thompson's faith?
Nah, we've had him to ourselves too long, let's give him the the entire country, they NEED him!
Thanks for posting this, pissant. I just watched it again, and darn, but Duncan Hunter is a like-able guy! He is his own man, speaks fluently and succinctly from his heart on any subject, has a wonderful wit, and ,in spite of all his successes, he is still humble before his God!
An amazing man. We are fortunate to have him running for Commander in Chief!
He does ....look, act, sound.... very Presidential doncha think!
I got 5:27 into that snooze-fest. Can anyone top that? This is no exception, this man has nothing. Of course anyone with the guts to say it is going to be flamed but it makes it no less true.
He doesn’t ever seem to know what he is speaking about, he gets lost and rambles, there is no passion, no verve, and I always get the impression he would rather be somewhere else.
I would say there are very good reasons for Fred waiting to announce and we all sort of knew it but just refused to accept it. Fred would get his a$$ handed to him in a debate, let’s be honest. His campaign will try to hold onto the current support and come up with some red-pickup-truck-like gimmick.
I did notice the overture to McCain in the video but heard no mention of Hunter. The people with Thompson/Hunter taglines can forget that because it won’t happen. Focus groups determining what conservatives want and then someone parroting the results falls short when compared to Hunter who has walked the walk for nearly 30 years.
It is far more likely to be McCain than Hunter, that is, assuming Fred can win the nomination. The unprecedented support he has (according to polls) will go as soon as he announces. Maybe I am wrong, the GOP has gone for phone-it-in-phoneys before, and if Rudy is the frontrunner maybe we haven’t learned a thing, or even worse, are incapable of learning.
bttt
I think I did about 7:41 before having to click it off...
This is no exception, this man has nothing.
That's harsh, but I am afraid you are right. I just compared the substance that FDT uttered at the VFW, with the same subjects covered by DH at Ames a week before...and the disparity in the speeches quality was absolutely stunning. I have heard great rhetoric from FDT before...but this was listless and tired-seeming. I was astonished at how lame the delivery and energy was. Duncan, clearly showed superior delivery and substantive command, and that ephemeral quality...leadership, as evidenced here:
That interviewer is Jesse DuPlantas (sp?) on TBN. Rep. Hunter will get a lot of exposure on TBN. This sure can’t hurt.
BTT
And I think you are right, and take you one further....10 seconds into reading his speech, Fred tipped his hand to the VFW that war hero McCain would be on his ticket....IF he can win. Yawn.
You are made of stronger stuff than I , Paul. :) I didn't intend to be harsh and I didn't mean that Fred literally has nothing. The man has been successful in multiple arenas and has accomplished much. I meant he has nothing substantial to offer conservatives other than platitudes, well-rehearsed sound bites and pandering cliche. He is a product of good marketing and sometimes I question whether he actually believes himself what he is saying.
This is only my opinion, but I get the impression he really doesn't want to be doing this for some reason. Whenever I hear him speak, I am never quite sure where he stands on the issue after he is finished. Then when he is less ambiguous and is more clear on an issue I wonder if it is really he that is saying it, he seems like he is speaking for someone else, telling us what we want to hear and comes off as something other than sincere.
I apologize, if I come off as being harsh or "running Fred down", it is never my intention. I can only relate the truth as I see it. For me, personally, this isn't about Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter or anyone else, it's about our country and who I can trust and who has the knowledge and leadership ability to do what so desperately needs to be done.
I don't do my country or anyone else any justice by pretending not to know things, I , in fact, do know. Sometimes I forget not to rock the boat, especially when the boat has a hole the size of Rhode island in the bottom of it. :)
That was way cool! Congressman Hunter exercised his First Amendment rights well and described the expression rights of all well enough. I no longer share his religion (having moved toward a more strict monotheism) but do share his admiration for our first President. He’s the most trustworthy candidate we have to defend and uphold our rights, IMO.
“saw some of that FDT videohis heart is not in ithe must really be getting some pressure by some very powerful people”
Yeah, His wife!!:D
"Walking with God is a series of renewals,...you renew your faith!"
"...a manifestation of God's hand on this country"
He is my man... none other come close...
***Duncan says in the video that he has accepted the Lord, not that he has obeyed the Gospel of Christ when being immersed unto salvation.
He sounds confused.***
He didn’t sound confused to me. I think Duncan Hunter gave a good testimony about how he came to Christ and how it is a continuous process walking before the Lord.
” Fred tipped his hand to the VFW that war hero McCain would be on his ticket....IF he can win. Yawn.”
That’s when I quit watching. The “great man” who pushed amnesty.... no, no.
>saw some of the FDT video — his heart is not in it — he must really be getting some pressure by some very powerful people.<
You know, I think you’re right, Walter!
I tune in on FDT every chance I get, at first to give him the benefit of the doubt (I’d never heard of him before!), then to try to understand why so many people were urging him to run. The more I see and hear of the man, the more I question what he’s got to offer! I’ve never watched him speak that I wasn’t bored out of my mind. And his wordy trip to a point rarely quite gets there.
IMO, FDT is being set up as a Ross Perot spoiler for sure by the Rockefeller Republican crowd, to steer recognition away of any true conservative running. And if the American people don’t wake up, they just might win!
Thanks for that info. It sure would be nice to have an itinerary of Hunter’s events so we could follow him better. Especially his T.V. appearances.
Sunday morning bttt!
Indeed. I hope many republicans get to see this.
