The term EBANGELICAL has been bastardized until I am sick to my stomach.

These apostate imposters are sending people to Hell.

I’m not sure how you can define modern Israel in such a way that does not include ancient Israel in its definition. There is the same religion, culture, language, and land. Is there anything else that defines a nation?

It seems to me as a Jew that every non-heretical Christian believes Christianity is the ‘true Israel’. No doubt that’s why almost every thread mentioning Jews or Israel gets hijacked into urging Jews to convert.

I’ve seen it posted that some believe that the Israel of today is not truly the Israel of the Bible. Any comments?

Don't see how this is possible.

Israel has already gone through cycles in which God has allowed it to be scattered and then reestablish itself, but it is still Israel. Also cycles when God was pleased with it and very distraught with it, and yet it is still Israel.

The only contrary doctrine I can imagine is the idea of the Church as a replacement for Israel, but I don't buy it for a minute. Else why would Paul have discussed the differences between the Jewish Christian and their Gentile counterparts, and still positively assert that though God had offered salvation to the Gentiles, that there was still value in being a Jew.

In that case: Convert!

OK, if that didn't work, think of bacon, mmm... bacon, mmm..., you know Christians are allowed to eat bacon.

Alright, I did my part, the other Christians need to start sounding off to make a real hijacking ;-)

The new religious left is the old religious left that’s been around for forty odd years, in new clothes.

both Israel and the Palestinians have ''legitimate rights stretching back for millennia to the lands of Israel/Palestine,'' and that a Palestinian state must include the "the vast majority of the West Bank.''

An absolute lie, and the so-called left-leaning "evangelicals" know it. The land occupied by modern Israel is only a very small portion of the land given 4000 years ago by God as a perpetual homeland to Abraham and his progeny through his only legitimate heir Isaac. Isaac's first born son Esau sold his birthright to the land to Jacob for a pot of stew, and Jacob sired the sons who established the 12 tribes of ancient Israel.

All the land between the River of Egypt, aka the Nile, and the Euphrates river belongs to Israel by divine decree as recorded in Holy Scripture for all time to come at Genesis 15:18.

Any people or any nation which denies Isreal it's God-given right to every square inch of that promised land will be punished by God in His good time and in His own way. And that includes our own USA if we renege on our commitment to the security of the Israeli state. God help us if the US ever abandons the Israelis to the mercy of their fanatical Islamic enemies. The Israelis will survive and eventually possess their all of their promised land as surely as God's promises are true, but the US may not if we turn on God's chosen people.

I don't know how you can find that in the true evangelical Christian position on Israel and it's promised land. In the traditional mainstream Protestant denominations, definitely yes, but not in the evangelical community. Every evangelical bible teacher and/or pastor who I have read or heard speak on the issue has confirmed the validity of present day Israel's absolute right to the land promised to Abraham's heirs through Issac and Jacob.

I'm not sure of the current official RC or Orthodox position, but I know that historically they have both endorsed Augustine's mistaken doctrine of "replacement theology".

The NCC has lost 40% of it’s funding in 10 years, they are now picking up funds from groups like the Sierra club. There is nothing Evangelical about these people.

...he true evangelical Christian position on Israel and it's promised land...

Certainly some Christians do not understand the consequences of the church as 'true Israel'. Most seem to want it both ways by claiming the land of Israel for Jews who have converted to Christianity. And some are just dishonest.

That's probably true - it was probably bigger.

From a spiritual perspective, yes. But that doesn't change the fact that Israel as a nation was put in place by God and deserves our support.

Could you please point me at the part of the Christian bible which supports this doctrine.

****This is the guy who was carrying on a long term adulterous relationship while he was Pastor of a church, writing a book on his wife’s trust in him, was found out, went through the counselling wash, the para church rinse and was returned to the original church for the dry and retire cycle. A good choice for a Clinton advisor.****

This guy spoke at my church (that I'm thinking of leaving) last Spring at the mens friday morning breakfast. I geuss he wrote a book about ordering your private world. I don't know if that was before or after his affair. I don't know much about this guy but they were pumping this breakfast up big time.
