For the first time in more than a decade, Jones faces a serious primary challenger in Onslow County Commissioner Joe McLaughlin, a former Army Ranger, and their race will test how opposition to the Iraq war plays out in conservative and pro-military America... Jones' politics have become increasingly at odds with a Republican Party that he believes has lost its moorings. Although he voted to authorize the war in Iraq, he has since become one of its most vociferous opponents. He was one of only two House Republicans to vote against expanding the scope of the administration's anti-terrorist surveillance program.
Pig in a poke, RHINO. Spawned from a democrat’s loins.
Hope he gets his arse handed to him.
I voted for Jones in the last election.
That was the last time, forever...

On a platter or a skewer? I keep getting line drops and have to re-dial. My ISP service is really bad this evening. I may just call it quits. I have spent the past two hours actively reading responding to FReepers, with at least an hour worth, having the browser fail to respond, and finding the ISP links where not working. Gets old after having gotten up at 3:30AM and being at work at 5:00PM to have to spend a day trying to save people from burning down their houses because they want to play it cheap and not install correct circuit breaker combos for electrical needs, only to have to fight with a lousy Internet service.
CFG is a GREAT organization, maybe they can chalk up another RINO ‘scalp’. heh heh... :)
No. It is to obey God first. Your conscience and feelings will lie. scripture will not. Gods desire for you will never contradict the revelation of his written word.
Yeah. Because God's sittin' there telling you what to do all the time. Oh wait, he is, kind of -- through your conscience.
Is this idea new to you? Developing a properly formed conscience, and all that? Seriously.
Absolutely. The Jones political family of NC are all staunch Dems. The Congressman's father, Water Jones Sr., was well known for being a hardcore LIBERAL Democrat during his term. After the GOP took over North Carolina, Jones Jr. realized he wouldn't have a prayer running as a "D" and decided to toss an "R" next to his name to con people into voting for him. Unfortunately, it worked. But now he's not fooling anyone.
>> Jones is one of the most conservative members of the House. <<
Jones WAS one of the most conservative members of the House... back when the GOP was in power. Jones loyally voted the GOP position a few years ago because it was "popular" to do so. Now that the Dems are in power, Jones has reverted back to his old ways and is showing his true colors. His Ameircan Conservative Union rating gets lower and lower every year and has now dropped below 80, which puts him below the ACU bar to be considered a reliable conservative in the House.
>> His only sin is that he against world policing. <<
Here's some of "true conservative" Walter Jones' votes last year:
Voted AYE on HR 5449 (Roll Call 233) a bill to give union bosses & goons more power to interfere in FAA labor negotiations.
Voted AYE on HR 5252 (Roll Call 239) an amendment that would have impaired the property rights of Internet service providers.
Voted NAY on creating a Line-Item Veto, HR 4890 (Roll Call 317) The House passed a bill authorizing the president to single out specific appropriations, spending, and special tax breaks for re-passage by the Congress under expedited procedures.
Voted NAY on S 3930 (Roll Call 508), a bill authorizing military tribunals to try unlawful enemy combatants in the war on terror, and re-affirming a ban on evidence obtained through torture.
Voted NAY on Con Res 376 (Roll Call 156), a conservative alternative to the Dem budget that would limit total spending to $2.7 trillion, including $829 billion in discretionary spending, saving $358.3 billion over five years, extend the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, eliminate about 150 federal programs and increase defense and veterans' spending. It also restructured a number of agencies, reduced foreign aid by $31 billion over five years, allowed drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and eliminated highway earmarks
Was AWOL on H Res 861 (Roll Call 288) a resolution declaring honoring Americans taking an active part in the war on terror and the sacrifices of the U.S. armed forces who have died or been wounded. It was was adopted 256-153 on June 16, 2006.
