Despite the vast Pacific between them, China has long enjoyed close ties with the state of Washington and Seattle, and they are growing closer every day.
As early as the 1860s, workers from China came to the West Coast of the United States, including Washington state and Seattle, where they contributed to the development of the local economy.
Washington state was one of the first states to trade with China and has always been a leader in China-U.S. trade. Seattle has been America's "Gateway to the Orient." In 1979, the first Chinese cargo ship, "Liulinhai," bearing the five-star flag, arrived at the U.S. mainland. The first port it called at was Seattle.
Today, China and Washington state and Seattle are inseparable partners. China's Sichuan Province and Chong-qing City have sister relationships with the state of Washington and the city of Seattle. Washington state shipped more than $6.8 billion worth of exports to China in 2006, making China its No. 1 export market. American companies headquartered in Seattle, such as Microsoft and Starbucks, are household names in China. Boeing aircraft make up two-thirds of China's civil aviation fleet.
Numerous American companies continue to expand their business in China and make rewarding profits. Some Chinese companies have begun to seek investment and development opportunities here in Washington state.
Seattle was the first leg of President Hu Jintao's successful visit to the United States in April last year. This important visit pushed China's close relationship with Washington state and Seattle to a new high.
People throughout the world want peace, development and cooperation. This is an irresistible historical trend. The Chinese nation believes in kindness and harmony without uniformity. By my estimation, Seattle will be the capital of the Northwest Province (AKA Province #3) after the takeover is complete.

As another person on this thread pointed out, Seattle is a little too Red for the People’s Republic.
