Thompson tells Allen decision on presidential race coming soon
Associated Press - August 22, 2007 11:25 AM ET
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Fred Thompson said on a Richmond radio station today that he's getting very close to announcing whether he will run for president.
The former Tennessee senator and "Law and Order" actor made his comments on a show guest-hosted by another former Republican senator, Virginia's George Allen, on WRVA.
Thompson said everybody seems to be announcing a lot earlier than normal, but he's operating on a more traditional time frame. He says the law allows potential candidates to take some time to get their organization together, raise money and assess public reaction ... and that's what he's doing.
Thompson told Allen "We're not allowed to announce before we announce, but I can tell you that it won't be very many more days before I'll be making a statement on it."

I think he may have missed his momentum. Now he's just appearing 'Cuomo-esque'.
Pi** or get off the pot, man. This isn't making you look statesmanlike, it's making you look pathetic.
God I miss Reagan!

Actually Fred was going to go back in a time machine and announce on July 4th 1776, but decided that would be too dramatic.

The more time goes by, the less likely his run will be.

I really think he’s letting everyone have their say before he gets into the race. That way, he’s not just one of many. They all blur in the voter’s minds...but Fred will stand out now when he speaks.

It’ll be a book-signing deal. “How I Almost Became President but was too Self-less to accept the Job” by Fred Thompson, forward by Michael Bloomberg.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
Maybe he’ll announce at Zach Wamp’s annual Labor Day BBQ on Sept 3
The locale has been moved to a different place for the first time in 12 years...from a public park to a private farm...

I would rather have liked to see that. Kind of like a Back to the Future with an old red prop (okay, truck! :) Can't fault good marketing!) instead of the Delorian.
