Sorry, but this is mostly anecdotal crap. There are no citations of new studies. Discounts the results previous studies without any detailed basis. It refers to lack of control of contaminates and levels of desired additaves, which is bogus because water systems by law are thouroughly tested for content and reports filed with the federal government.

This web site uses all of the standard mis-direction and inflammatory quotes that typically mask the total lack of supporting scientific evidence for an argument. Better known as “Boob bait for the Bubbas”.

flouride is only reactive to the surface of teeth which with the amount they put in water is not going to spend long there. it’s also bad for several chemical reactions in the body.

One of the so called studies you cited states that fl- leads to a lower IQ. So now we know your problem is you have a lower IQ from fl-.

I saw your post(s) over on one of the ‘Bush and the North American Union’ threads. Now I see you over here on another conspiracy thread. Before you go thinking I’m about to flame you, I am most certainly not. You seem like a sane, reasoned fellow, and just wanted to point it out.

I worry about the quality of member lately on FreeRepublic. The conspiracy whack jobs are getting louder and louder. It would seem the sane ones (like us?) are being crowded out.

As for the topic at hand,...

My wife works for a dentist. All I can say is, anecdotally, kids who don’t have fluoridated water are kids who commonly have cavities.

Let’s use anecdotal evidence here. Who do you all know who has EVER been “hurt” by this? I am 38 and know absolutely NO ONE who has ever been hurt by Fl. I have been on Fl H2O my whole life, and there is no problem.

I voted no, fluoride messes up your thyroid.

I knew it!!!! Water makes us fat. That is why Humans are getting more robust! Take Fluoride out of water and we will all get skinnier.

My mother will tell you that a HUGE difference occurred in the ‘50s when toothpast - WITH FLOURIDE - came on the scene. She was in her early teens then, so had some experience with what it was like with her and the siblings and neighbor kids. The key ingredient was Fl, not Cl.

Let’s use anecdotal evidence here.

I don't see an advantage to using ancedotal evidence. If you're insistent on it my brother had thyroid problems as did my grandmother's sister, and my best freind, all living in an area with flouride water.

I am calling for protests and demonstrations. None of us shall consume water in any form until all Fluoride has been removed!

No Justice!
No Peace!

Not to diss your mother, but how does she know it wasn’t better nutrition? How does she know it wasn’t vitamin and mineral supplements?

The last few generations of American children are the first in history to have consistent access to a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, dairy, etc. on a daily basis. Many take vitamin and mineral supplements. A whole lot more has changed in American society since the 50s than just adding fluoride to the water.

Flouride may indeed be a miracle drug, but too many factors have changed at the same time to say that it is with any degree of certainty.

That’s why I used anecdotes. People who believe quackery as per the website are big on anecdotes without statistics. I’m sorry for you. If it was really Fl - because thyroid problems are rampant and just because someone gets a problem at some point and lives here or there that features XXXX, does not mean 1 caused the other. There are MILLIONS of factors.

Bottled water(without flouride) has caused a dramatic increase in cavities in teens and young adult.

Look up fluorosis. I know someone who was hurt. She had to have most of her teeth replaced in her early 20s. Granted it’s rare, but it does happen, especially in areas where people on well water give their children fluoride drops or fluoride-containing vitamins.

Read the website http://www.quackwatch.org/03HealthPromotion/fluoride.html

How does she know? How do you know what you think you know?

For 1, Fl-toothpaste is PACKED with Fl, unlike water. It’s reasonable to say that in a year or so of kids using Fl toothpastes, that if their dentist visits and cavity filling went down, it was most likely the Fl toothpaste. Food doesn’t change overnight. It certainly didn’t change much in the ‘50s, when people weren’t obsessed with “healthfulness” as in - no meat, lots of veggies, no candy, etc.

“Modern water supplies contain chlorine, too ...”

I’m much more concerned about excessive chlorine in the Government water here than I am about the amount of fluoride it contains.

It doesn’t need to spend a long time there. It does its job, and science has proven this again and again. Its safe, hardens the enamel protecting your teeth, and has not been shown to cause cancer in any clinical study.

This myth about floridated water being unhealthy or dangerous needs to die.

Unfortunately our school systems have become so bad, that facts are just irrellevant to about 30% of the people.
