For the sake of conversation, I’ll mention this again. When I was in school, I had a professor, when they were not radicals, tell us that in his opinion, there would be 3-4 leaders of the world. All of Europe would be under one leader, the US, Canada, Mexico and possibly South America would be under one leader, all of Asia would be under one leader, the Middle East would be under one leader.

We now see the EU, talks of the NAU, China is talking about uniting all Asian countries. This professor is surely passed on by now but I would sure like to talk to him today. All this is happening at lightening speed now due to the age of computers. He didn’t think it would happen in our life time but computers were not in the picture. This statement he made was in 1962. Look at what is happening today.

He also mentioned that for something like the NAU to happen (there was no name for it back then) we would have to get rid of our Constitution. England, to be a full partner in the EU, would have to get rid of their Monarchy. One thing my professor said.....”Never let anyone change our Constitution for any reason. There is no need to change it, it is fine the way it is. If we allow people to change the Constitution for any reason, they will take that opportunity to change the whole thing.”

Rather than the premise given by the flat-earther, sovereignty is being extended every way every day.

Countries that share common borders should discuss common interests when it comes to trade, security and immigration. If my neighbor is invaded or its goverment is subverted by say, radical Islam or communism then I have a problem. Good neighbors are important.

Cooperation good.

Collective bad.

Preserve sovereignty — a Free Republic, a Free Dominion, and an independent kleptocracy behind a wall, Gulf to Pacific.

I would highly recommend that this subject matter be brought back often. Don’t ignore it. One way this professor said that this can happen is if the government taxes us to the point that the only thing you’ll be able to do is work to stay alive and not pay any attention to what they are doing. How many people today are working 60-70 hours a week? It’s happening as we speak.

I’m curious—since Canada has a rapidly declining population, (a tiny fraction of ours) and since we already handle most of the national defense responsibilities for Canada, does anyone here think that we may be setting the stage for Canada to become a part of the United States, rather than the US becoming a part of some “NAU” entity?

If Canada were to enter the union as several states, under our Constitution, would anyone here object?

Mexicans seem to believe that they own the southwest, it would be in keeping with history to annex Mexico. While we are at it, annex Canada. Then all of Central America, why do you think they call it “America”. We won’t have to change that maps or stationary, much. By annexing we would put them under our laws and can tax them, after all most of the income in Mexico it from the US. Mexicans paying taxes that Americans won’t

An NAU could be opposed simply because the idea smacks of copying Europeans. Oh, the shame.

Though the idea is bad anyway. The government (de facto and de jure) should be accountable to the citizenry.

In the EU, too much legislation and decrees are passed without much direct control by the average EUer.

Enlarged United States of America.

Mexico comes from a different legal and social perspective. It is my impression that Mexicans tend to be on the socialist side. It would not be a good mix with the United States and would overwhelm us and destroy us. It is my impression that few Mexicans understand the Lockean traditions of freedom, self determination and accountability. (At least the activists are more of the entitlement bendt.)

Also, can you imagine the criminal, social, health, educational probelms we would have to allocate resources toward addressing?

As for Canada, are you prepared to have each province enter as an equal state with the same amount of Senators as New York, California etc. This causes balance of power issues just like bringing in states west of the Mississippi did pre-Civil War. How would that affect our politics?

(I do think that most Americans would not mind folding in Canadians into their nation, but I think the Canadians would probably mind a great deal.)

Where are all the “paleocons” who scream about Gaffney being a Trotskeyite or a neocon?
