Just makes you wonder where the hell Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the rest of the civil rights cabal is on this issue. As Peterson points out, if it were whites doing this, there would be marches/riots in the streets.

The situation is a national tragedy. I don't want to cheapen it but making it all about "politics", but ... the Republicans need to reach out to the inner cities. There's no good reason for blacks to vote for Democrats. Yet they do. Illegal immigration ought to be a big issue, it ought to be owned by Republicans, and it out to be a huge concern for blacks.

The GOP can carve out quite a nice future for itself if it grabs the black vote away from the Democrats.

It’s not for lack of trying. You have to understand that over the past 40 years it has been ingrained in the Black community mindset that to vote Republican is voting against your own race, and it doesn’t matter how much damage the Democrats have done (in fact, you talk privately to them one-on-one, and they’ll acknowledge how bad things are — but yet they just can’t bring themselves to vote GOP). It’s just sad. You can’t force them to vote the right way.

New Orleans, Detroit, Baltimore. These three cities share something in common and differ from NYC in an important way. The people keep electing leaders from the same party expecting a different result. NYC woke up and the city was turned around. I cannot believe people would be this insane for decades. You get what you vote for.

I'm sorry, but I don't see it that way. It looks to me like criminals have been killing the law abiding, and they are still killing the law abiding.

the solution to this problem is to make sure the law abiding are armed and trained, and it doesn't matter to me what color they are.

This is exactly my point. and the way that the Republicans can make that jump is to really advocate for the rights of blacks which have been so horrendously ignored. Gun control is overwhelmingly a inner city, and therefore racial issue. Gun control advocates are not trying to take away the guns of wealthy suburban pheasant hunters, they are trying to take away the guns of law abiding black people. And since they have succeeded, crime has soared.

We need to put some more energy into that debate, and do our level best to help the law abiding portion of the inner city black community to take responsibility for themselves, and ensure their own self defense.
