Rudy Giuliani's Foreign Policy Plan ("This Man is Batsh*t Insane")

Much has been written about Rudy Giuliani’s foreign policy plan most of which negative. Not just liberals criticized Giuliani: conservatives like James Joyner were not exactly impressed either. Joyner wrote:

It is not particularly realistic — let alone Realist — and certainly does not contemplate peace.

He adds:

I must concur in Matt Yglesias‘ judgment: “this man is batshit insane.”

For a time, Giuliani was my favorite of the 2008 candidates. He’s got serious executive experience, is a charismatic leader, and sufficiently moderate on social issues that I thought he had the chance to put together a 60 percent coalition to break the polarization that has so poisoned American politics in recent years.

While I disagree with him on abortion and some other issues, I was able to put that aside.

Unfortunately, the more I learn about Giuliani, the less I like him. His chief advantage, the sense that he’s a grown-up who will take a pragmatic but aggressive role in fighting Islamist terrorists, is undermined by his unserious pandering…

Essentially, he wants to massively increase a defense budget that already spends more than the rest of the countries on the planet combined so as to buy more anti-missile systems to protect us against a land-based guerrilla movement.

The war on terrorism is a big war, one that will most likely last for decades, but it seems that we should learn from our mistakes. If we have learned one thing it is that Bush’s policies might not be the most effective ones possible.

Those who want to continue these policies, do not seem to have learned that lesson and should, therefore, not be allowed to lead the most powerful country on earth.

who worked in the Bobby Kennedy campaign, voted for George McGovern, who first ran for mayor as a candidate of the LIBERAL PARTY, who as mayor publicly distanced himself from Ronald Reagan, who vocally supported and proudly endorsed a far-left, liberal, big-government, socialist, democrat like Mario Cuomo over the Republican candidate for governor (because the Republican wanted to cut taxes ‘too much’),,,,

who was SO LIBERAL that he wasn’t even invited to the Republican Convention in ’96--after refusing to endorse (until the last minute) the Republican candidate opposing Clinton,,,,

and a cousin-marrying, Clinton-apologist--whose personal life is an absolute TRAIN WRECK (and whose blatant, public cheating on his wife almost makes Bill Clinton look like a decent family man and loving husband--if that is even possible),,,,

a LIBERAL like Rudy is just "RIGHT FOR THE TIMES WE LIVE IN"!!

I happen to like him and will probably be voting for him.

Good, you can write in his name for President because he won't be getting the nomination.

There is no such thing as a perfect candidate, which is what I feel many are looking for.

With Rudy, he doesn't have the one or two issues of seperation that you may have with the other GOP candidates. On all the issues except for fiscal policies and the WOT Rudy is a liberal, and even on those two issues he's not as conservative as you think he is.

What I am looking for is the candidate who is right for the times we live in. For some, like me, that’s Rudy. For others it may be someone else.

Rudy is simply not that guy. The 2008 election goes far beyond the WOT. This is a genuine battle for the heart and soul of our Republic and our country. Rudy is not the man who'll lead conservatives to victory.

Can you name ONE single thing that Rooty Toot has done that demonstrates that he is qualified to be POTUS?

Can you give us one reason why we should nominate a person to run against Hillary who was too scared to run against her in 2000 and 2006?

Ron Paul will secure the borders and deny entry for Muslim immigrants who want to come here and spew their hatred. He would stop meddling in the Middle East. Although I disagree with him on withdrawing from Iraq immediately, his position is far superior to the open borders, pro-gun control, pro-nation building Rudy.

You haven't a clue. Talk to any NYC Metro FReeper, who maybe had to drive through the Lincoln Tunnel, or drive over the Third Avenue Bridge, and run the gamut of extortionists who came to "clean" your windshield. Ask them (the NYC FReepers) about the panhandlers, about the garbage, the streets, the subways. Ruddy revived NYC in a way that few thought possible. Yes, he didn't round up the illegal aliens, but he made the City attractive in a way that it hadn't been for decades. Than was his job and he did it well. The fact that he proved to be an up front, charismatic leader in the aftermath of 9/11 is a plus. The fact that he is a Yankee fan is a negative.

Nothing is more important than survival. If I thought Hillary understood this better than whomever the Republicans nominate (perish the thought) I would probably vote for her. (or maybe I would move)

I've already done that on this thread. He rescued NYC from the Dinkens Disaster. If you're not a NYer, you probably cannot comprehend what an enormous task this was. He did the job an executive is supposed to do. He has also demonstrated his understanding of Islamic Swine in connection with Yasser Arafat barring him from a City run function at Avery Fisher Hall (compare with the Commodities Scam Queen kissing Arafat's wife) and telling some Saudi Swine to stuff his ten million donation to the City. Honesty is a tough thing in politics, and unfortunately it causes some to look to those who pander. I agree that Giulanni has his flaws, and may not even be the best choice for the nomination in 2008, but if he gets it, I'll support him.

‘War lasting for decades’ indicates troops. No wonder a military leader says a draft is on the table. They will need a hell of a lot of boots on the ground. A nation that supports a war will support a draft.

Go back and read your post at #18. That's what I was commenting about, but you chose to ignore it.

As for NY State Republicans, the situation is pretty grim. Without Googling, I doubt most could name the Republican candidate for Governor who lost to Spitzer. I actually encountered the man up at Saratoga last summer, and didn't know he was a Republican. But still I am not happy about Giuliani's support for the Sfachim, since you ask.

Cleaning up Times Square, eliminating the squeegee-men, arresting public urinators and catching turnstile jumpers are not the issues that conservatives will be judging candidates on in the GOP primaries.
