School deaths that stunned black America
The Guardian ^ | August 19, 2007

Newark is a 25-minute train ride across the Hudson River from the skyscrapers of Manhattan. But its tough streets, scarred by violence and drugs, feel a world away.

Now, after a brutal multiple murder in a school playground, Newark is at the centre of a bout of national soul-searching about life in urban America and the violence that marks so much of the experience of inner-city black youth.

The crime has caused shock across the nation not because the victims were involved in a tit-for-tat piece of ghetto violence, but because they were not. They were four young black Americans who had done everything right to grow up unscathed by Newark's social problems. Beating the odds, they had emerged with clean records, bright futures and university degrees ahead of them. But even they could not succeed.

[snip to paragraph 15]

The result has been a lightning-quick investigation. Already three men are under arrest. One is Jose Carranza, 28, an illegal immigrant from Peru who was already out on bail on sexual assault charges. A key part of the case is information from the sole survivor. Natasha Aerial has been helping police from her hospital bed, including looking through pictures of suspects. She is under constant armed guard to protect her from the witness intimidation attacks that have been a hallmark of the stop snitching movement.

[snip]

Incredibly it seems that these murders have succeeded where 40 years of politics have failed. Newark, at last, is showing signs of forcefully tackling its problems. Booker unveiled a tough local gun law last week. It could eventually include setting up special 'gun courts' to deal specifically with gun crimes. A new $3m (£1.5m) network of surveillance cameras and gunshot detectors is planned, partly funded by a flood of donations from Newark's citizens.

There’s a civil war in the making between blacks and hispanics, and it will only take a few sparks like this to set it off.

If there is truly a Black America, they don’t give a damn.

Black culture as it exists in cites accepts murder of young people as normal everyday business.

Young men protect turf. Young women abort

Ah, I was waiting for the “punchline”, and there it is—”They need tighter gun control”. Nothing like gun control to keep a young man from being stabbed in the neck and killed at a takeaway food place.

Glad to see they are finally taking actions that will put an end to the violence!

Build more prisons. Lock up the violent felons. Deport the illegal aliens, especially the criminals, drug addicts, gang members, and mentally ill. AND BUILD THE G$%DAMN FENCE! Problem solved, WITHOUT Orwellian Big-Brother solutions.

Completely missing in this article is any mention of Jose Carranza’s background: arrested for 31 counts of rape against a 5-year-old girl and threats to murder her parents if they testified against him. Arrested for a bar fight. This guy’s an illegal alien who’s been arrested for numerous crimes, yet he’s not being detained for deportation, and is walking around on bail. Newark, meanwhile, is a sanctuary city for illegals. If I were the parents, I’d be pounding on my elected officials for their enabling of this criminal.

As long as the people and elected officials in Newark delude themselves into thinking that guns are the freaking problem, the next 40 years in that sh!t-hole will be no different than the last 40.

If this results in a community recognizing it’s problems and realistic solutions and more active policing it could be a breakthrough for Newark. If it results in more pointless gun laws it will be a failure.

These murders have stunned all Americans. They were just so useless and brutal. We have a major problem growing in this country, and that is an unnatural indifference to human life. It is truly frightening.

“If there is truly a Black America, they don’t give a damn.”

Where is the outrage?

Shouldn’t Sharpton & Jackson be all over this, since they are so concerned about the plight of blacks?

They don’t seem to be interested unless they can somehow blame whitey.

“A tough local gun law..” Whoop-de-do~~!

The bums in charge of Newark still dont get it. He should be hanging in the public square the judge who let the illegal alien savage out on bond for a previous rape of a 5 year old girl.

Running to the cameras in this case will do no good, since neither of them speaks Spanish and their idiotic rantings won’t be very effective when translated on TeleMundo.

No kidding. These were bright looking, fresh faced kids full of promise. I don’t care what color their skin is, seeing that snuffed out is heartbreaking.

Illegal Immigrant Sanctuary Protects Murderer

Dozens of cities across the nation offer illegal immigrant sanctuaries. One of them is Newark, New Jersey. Had this city contacted federal immigration officials after illegal alien Jose Carranza’s first felony indictment for raping a five-year old, he would have been deported and therefore prevented from later murdering three youngsters in a schoolyard.

The murders have fueled further outrage over the government’s failure to stem the tide of invasion from the south. “I guess these immigrants are doing the crimes Americans are unwilling to do,” said one disgusted Newark resident who requested his name not be published.

You fall short. This should be no less offensive and as equally fraught with personal liability as it is today to let a person go for DWI. Remember the DWI stink over the ball player in Seattle. He wasn’t given any slack and the reason was simple. Anyone who knowingly lets a drunk driver get a free pass is going to be liable if the person ‘enabled’ goes on to do harm under the influence. Should be the same standard for overlooking immigration laws.

I don’t think it is an unnatural indifference to human life. I think it is a very natural indifference, and that some societies have managed to climb out of that pit is a miracle, and yet we take it for granted. IMO, xenophobia is a natural state, and non-prejudice is what must be carefully taught. Bring in people of a very different culture by the millions; don’t assimilate them, and this is what you get.

There's just not enough money or coverage in anything you can't blame whitey for.
