So is he leaving because his $168,000 government salary will not be enough to pay for his medical care or future medical care? How often do we hear the dems say that we want the same medical care for each american that the govt employees get.
To: nuconvert
So, he didn't know what the job paid when he took it? Yeah, right.
Here's a couple of ideas: (less likely)...he had a change of heart and is now actually refusing to shill for policies that aren't conservative. (more likely)...the successful defense of America against Bush's amnesty cost Snow his job because he was incapable of properly swaying the sheeple.

Maybe the hack Hannity will take the job. He's already sucking up to Giuliani for the position. In Hannity's mind Giuliani is the second coming. I can't help but think that if Snow does leave (which saddens me greatly) Hannity will be attached to Bush's rear like a leech to a bass.

He always has seemed uncomfortable in his role as White House spokesman...
I always felt that, as he was delibering the party line (which, of course, is his job to do), that he was always sort of winking at the irksome stuff....
...Like trying to justify Illegal immigration amnesty.....
It’ll be nice to hear him back on the outside.... hopefully he’ll go back on the air at FNC....

The White House has been shaken by the resignations of some of President Bush's closest aides.Who says the White House is 'shaken' by this? I certainly haven't heard anyone from the White House say they were 'shaken'.
Sounds like someone has an agenda.

I think that Tony Snow did as well as anyone could have done at representing the Bush Administration to a sickeningly hostile, biased MSM White House Press Corps.
He took a huge pay cut to become press secretary, and I hope he recoups his losses with book deals and talking head gigs.
Thanks, Tony, for a job well done.

Perfect.
Just like the Founders intended.
You enter public service, do your duty and leave.
Unlike those fossils in the Senate and House (and career bureaucrats in every level of govt).

Prayers for Tony Snow. Although I have not always agreed with the administration and his defense of it, he has been loyal to the the President and an inspiration to those fighting illnesses.

Shucks, and here I was hoping that Snow was leaving because he finally realized what a nutball, stupid and destructive scheme it is to open our borders and flood America with those who don't care for it, or actively work to destroy it.

The White House has been shaken by the resignations of some of President Bush's closest aides. Political strategist Karl Rove announced Monday that he would leave at the end of the month. Longtime Bush adviser Dan Bartlett left earlier this year and Andrew Card left earlier as Bush's chief of staff.Shaken? I don't think so. Nonetheless, I wish Tony well, hope he can get into complete remission of his cancer, and that he can make some good money for his family.

The White House has been shaken by the resignations of some of President Bush's closest aides. Political strategist Karl Rove announced Monday that he would leave at the end of the month. Longtime Bush adviser Dan Bartlett left earlier this year and Andrew Card left earlier as Bush's chief of staff. Snow is still under cancer treatment. While finances may enter into this, it's hard for me to classify this as a real hardship case.
This appears like an attempt to embarass Snow to the max, as if he were dead broke or something.
As for this administration being shaken, that's as preposterous as it would have been to say the same thing when Clinton's rats fled the sinking ship in the last few years of his presidency.
People always leave about this stage of the process. Of course we can't expect a company as amaturish as AP to be able to recall prior administrations. I doubt they have anyone on staff that was out of junior high during the Clinton Administration, by the quality of reporting these days.

My family income is about 68K a year. If I were to live on 20K for two years, it would be tough. Tony went from over a million to a measily 168K. That must be tough. I wish him the best at making as much money for his family as possible.

May God bless Tony Snow. Enough said.

“Financial pressures force Snow departure”
I hope Tony just told us a white lie.
Out of kindness, decorum and respect to The Office of The Presidency.
And that his real reason for leaving is he’s had a belly-full of mendacity
from Dubya regarding defense of our borders.

I’ll bet his mortgage and other expenses are the same ones he had when he expected a million plus a year. He probably can’t afford to fulfill the contracts he made before on less than 1/5 of his former income.
