>>”I will not be able to make it to the end of this administration, just financially,” Snow said. “This job has been such a pleasant surprise in how much I like it. I love it.”<<

I have to say that does not ring true. I say that even as I like and respect Tony Snow. But if this story quotes him acurately and not out of context, I think Tony just lied to us about his main motivation to leave.

"The 52-year-old Snow, the father of three children, earns $168,000"

Yep - three children eat a lot!!! Hope they make until he leaves.

I saw him on TV the other day for the first time after a while. He looked so old now, compared to when he was still with FNC.

Well that and the fact the last year of a 2 term President’s admistration just sucks. :-)

I’m sad that Tony will not endure until the end of Bush’s presidency. Seems that salary and benefits would tie him over since he knew coming in what the package was. But, things change with all of us so new directions have to be taken.

Maybe he can run for VP!!

I do wish him a complete recovery from his cancer.

Does anybody know what stance Tony Snow had on illegal immigration? I thought he was against illegal immigration, and maybe that’s the reason he is resigning. He feels that the prez’s policy of amnesty for illegal aliens and the policy of making Canada, U.S., and Mexico into one nation is too much for him to support making it impossible for him to continue to spew the prez’s viewpoint on these subjects.

God bless you Tony. You are a good family man. I always enjoyed your radio program and the great stories you told.

I would think that between the prices of housing and the cost of keeping his kids in good schools and the extra medical expenses, he might be feeling a very serious financial pinch. His kids will be ready for college and he has had a serious health issue. If I were him, I would want to be able to build up some kind of cushion for my family.

It seems like any book deal he’d get would more than make up for his losses over the years he’s spent as Bush’s press secretary? Maybe not.

Ok, this just sucks. I really like Tony’s command of the press room!

You don’t know what Tony Snow’s living expenses are. He may have a mortgage and expenses that a 7 figure salary are needed to support. Govt service is probably making him eat into his savings along with his medical treatment. Why do you think only millionaires run for office? They want the connections that come AFTER they leave to enhance their portfolios. Tony Snow’s job does not lend itself to those type of perks.

This is a pretty misleading title. He said he will leave in the future due to money concerns.

If he wins the lottery he might just stay.

"I'm going to stay as long as I can."

This is a smart business move on Tony's part. If he lands a job while he is working for the pres. his value and negotiations are stronger. If he waits until after, he is less marketable. In that lead times for jobs like his are probably at least a year, this is a good time for him to begin interviews-especially know that his treatments are done.

Also, if he tried to interview quietly the rumors would be flying.

More power to you Mr. Snow.

Thank you for your service and it's refreshing to hear an honest answer as to why you want to resign.

I wonder if they’d fly in someone from the West Coast, say, Upland?

Well I happen to believe the whole ‘financial’ angle to Tony’s leaving the White House, although I can’t help but wonder if in the back of his mind he’s thinking “yep, it’s financial - they can’t PAY me enough to keep defending the indefensible policies coming out of what I thought was a conservative Administration, so I’m OUTTA here!”

Either way, God Bless you Tony and good luck.

All the positive things anyone could say for Tony Snow were said... so I’ll just say there were a large number of excellent posts, even if FOX now thinks we are bigots.

This has zero to do with finances.

Tony has hepatic cancer and is nearing the end of his earthly pilgrimage.

He needs our prayers.
