He is a worry, but my guess is that a lot of his posturing right now is to solidify his political position in his own country, especially with the military who generally think its leadership has gone “soft” on the West. I also think the military misses the “good ole days” when they were a real political force within the Soviet Union.

Lots of deaf young Russians: The obsolete Tu-95 Bear is perhaps the noisiest plane ever built. Its crews are all stone deaf after a few missions. It is so damn loud, US submarines pick up its sonar profile underwater.

Are airplane engines like car engines where, if you don’t use ‘em. the seals dry up and the engines are at risk of self-destruction?

What’s next, will Putin paint “CCCP” on the sides?
To: Aussie Dasher
I think he may be trying to revive the cold war as a little “pay back” on us.
He thinks he can hurt us economically by making us spend cold war style while we are engaged in an expensive war on terror.
He is mistaken. He’s pissing away his oil funds playing a game in which we will, ultimately, hand him his azz.
He may be a shrewd politician but he obviously can’t count.

As if they had a choice in 1992. They were so broke they couldn’t fly a hot air balloon.

It’s time for the U.S. Congress to approve more spending on the F-22. I think that would be a message the Russians would get loud and clear.
They need to know that just because we are involved a the so called war on terror,we will be keeping a wide eye on Russia’s activity and there is only so far we will let them go.
By the way the Reason I call it a So Called war on terror is I believe that this is really a proxy war sponsored by Islamic nations against the west. There agents are all of the terrorist entities that we hear about on a daily basis.

One would think that having a population of approx. 150M to defend an area that covers 12 time zones, the least of his problems would be those coming from his west.

Yeah, sure...stick a sock in it !!!
They originally stopped flying those missions because they were bankrupt. Let's see how long it takes them to go broke again. The sooner, the better. Jerks!!!
