I was listening to the news out of the corner of my ear when I heard FreeRepublic specifically mentioned as a "hate site" about fifteen minutes ago.
Ostensibly the long report was about the Klan using the web to recruit new wackos. Then the focus turned to Casa Maryland, and their director who claimed that calls for his murder had circulated on the internet by anti-immigrant bigots. It was then that the anchor identified FR by name as a hate site.
I have developed a disdain for "moderate" and "independent" voters since the 1992 election.
Personally, I sometimes think I have more respect for idiot moonbats who have at least taken a stand on issues, than I do for "independents" who want to see "all sides of an issue", "seek common ground", "not be judgemental" and "just get along".
I think it was 9/11 that put the nail in that coffin for me.
I heard Harold Ford Jr refer to FR as a hate site when he called into Hannity’s show. Hannity made a moderate defense stating that the site is really a place to post and not run by any one person as some of the blogs of the left are.
Don’t you just hate this stuff?
Roger that. I have gone there a few times, and the irrationalty, angst and bitterness made me feel like I wanted to wash my keyboard and hands just reading it.
Now, I just depend on people like PJ-Comix to take care of letting us know what is going on there. That is a job for professionals.
Great response, Quix! Well done, and thank you!
You can say that again.
Earthdweller ROCKS!
No. I ignored your question the first time because it was trite and stupid. But since you're coming after my fist with your chin....
Yes. And the question we need to ask is: are there things at FR that help to feed their agenda? The answer is "yes."
It's amazing the lengths to which folks will go, to avoid looking at our own behavior.
Great points! As usual. ;^)
This is a lame attempt of showing “fair and balance.” Somehow by saying that there are “conservative” hate sites, this gives the impression of being fair. It’s bogus.
I asked you this before, but you neglected to answer...
How often have you hit the abuse button on the comments that you judge to be “deranged?”
Many times.
Doesn’t News Corp. own MySpace.com? Take a look at the cartoons of Jews on this page:

Maybe they need to clean up their own back yard before talking about what goes on at Free Republic.
We don’t condone hatred of anyone because of his/her race, ethnicity, and so on here. On the other hand, illegal immigration is a BEHAVIOR and not a RACE. It comes as no surprise that hate groups are taking one issue (criminal behavior by a few people of a given race or ethnicity) to promote hatred of everyone of that race or ethnicity. This is why Congress, and legal Hispanic immigrants and citizens themselves, must oppose illegal immigration.
Don’t the Hispanics themselves have a group known as La Raza (”The Race”)? That sounds like a racist organization to me—maybe their version of the KKK.
LOL...good retort!
So true...we forget that while people are not entitled to their own facts, they ARE entitled to their own opinions, no matter how disgusting, vile or misguided they are.
That is why FR is so great. It is freedom of speech that is debated and either accepted or rejected on its merits. I learned from day one on here that being intellectually lazy simply invites attack like blood in the water.
Freedom of Speech has responsibilites and consequences.
OK....how do we institute a class action against these people????
You evidently missed the point. To repeat, since leftists consider conservatives inherently hateful it doesn't matter what's posted over here -- they'll "find" what they're looking for. .....usually by taking quotes out of context, but occasionally (as was the case with O'Reilly last week) just making stuff up.
Does Rupert own those little independent stations?
I don't agree with everything you have said in this thread, but this is right on the money and bears repeating.
Freedom of Speech DOES have responsibilities and consequences.
And you miss the point, too -- which is that there are threads and posts that don't have to be made up or taken out of context to feed their agenda.
We musn't delude ourselves into thinking we're above reproach, because we're not.
