I was listening to the news out of the corner of my ear when I heard FreeRepublic specifically mentioned as a "hate site" about fifteen minutes ago.
Ostensibly the long report was about the Klan using the web to recruit new wackos. Then the focus turned to Casa Maryland, and their director who claimed that calls for his murder had circulated on the internet by anti-immigrant bigots. It was then that the anchor identified FR by name as a hate site.
I saw nothing that would tie FR to the KKK and and or any hate group.
I believe this hit piece tied FR to hate by it’s very close approximation to the hate groups mentioned.
This was a biased piece that said nothing about the number of growing black, Muslim and Hispanic hate groups.
I do hope that Fox 5 in Washington D. C. will be taken to task over this defamation by association.
What say the lawyers out there?

Stand at ease. Loose lips only sink ships if those lips are accurately reporting the location or movement of those ships. If Free Republic does not in fact host hate speech, then we should encourage loose lips. It's good for everyone out there to see our ships and know what they're doing. But if FR does host hate speech, or something that could be construed as hate speech, then it's time for the counterintelligence campaign. It's also time to seriously consider whether or not you want to be onboard this particular ship with this particular crew. If you decide you do not, you've only got two options, and both end up with someone in the drink.

Because honesty and decency and loyalty and all those other dead-white-European-male virtues mean something to us, we take accusations of "hatefulness," and indeed all charges of poor conduct, vastly more seriously than they do. (When our pols misbehave, we dropkick them. The demosocialists reelect theirs.)
To the left, words aren't rooted in meaning. They're situational tools, waiting to be co-opted or turned inside-out or plucked from thin air to suit the purpose of the moment. And, to be perfectly blunt about it, overwhelmingly unencumbered by conscience (or jobs or families or useful lives) as they are, the Soros gangs use these tools better than we do, especially when it comes to implementing the axiom that he who defines the debate wins.
So our job is to keep the Kos-DU-PuffHo-ANSWER crew from setting the rules. Refute their claims, of course; but also reject their terminology -- loudly and at every opportunity. They don't get to frame the discussion!
And, for a little know-thy-enemy research, Google "George Lakoff" and "framing" -- and be amused at how he accuses conservatives of using a linguistic technique that the other guys, led by himself, literally wrote the book on.

Okay, maybe. But I've gotta be close.
We have a relative down in the southern part of Texas. A few days ago (bear in mind that it's been BLAZING hot here, over 100 degrees the past week) my wife and I were talking about winter, and Texas, I took the time and effort to find out that in mid-January it's SIXTEEN DEGREES warmer down in south Texas, on average, than it is here.
And this isn't even really the COLD part of the country.
