The President and the first lady are continuing their vacation in Crawford Texas.
Today it was announced by the White House that Jenna Bush became engaged yesterday to her long term boy friend Henry Hager.
This week the Vice President's wife Lynne Cheney turned 66 today I have put together a few of my thoughts about this remarkable women, including an impassioned statement from her during the 2004 campaign and some photos of her through the years.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
Hi.
Press Secretary Tony Snow announced today that he will be leaving the White House before the administration ends. "I will not be able to make it to the end of this administration, just financially," Snow said. "This job has been such a pleasant surprise in how much I like it. I love it." He added, "I'm going to stay as long as I can."
President Bush congratulated Congressman and Former Speaker of the House Denny Hastert who also announced his impending retirement this week.
I am indebted to Denny for his candid advice and strong support, and I look forward to working with him throughout the remainder of the 110th Congress. As my good friend prepares to move on to the next phase of his life, he has my gratitude for his distinguished service. Laura and I wish Denny, Jean, and their entire family all the best. More on the presidents day from this mornings press gaggle by Gordon Johndroe:
This morning the President had his normal briefings. Then he taped the radio address; the topic will be Iraq, and how the provincial reconstruction teams are working to help facilitate political and economic reforms, as well as assist with bottom up reconciliation. The President was also briefed this morning on the mine situation in Utah. Our heart goes out to the mine rescuer from the Mine Safety and Health Administration office who was lost. Assistant Secretary of Labor Richard Stickler is out in Utah, and will be briefing on that later today.
At 12:20 p.m. today, the President and Mrs. Bush [attended] the annual Republican National Committee reception at the Broken Spoke Ranch. The President has attended this event every year since 2002.
Thats it for news.
The only new photo today is from August 10, 1999--a rare image of then Texas Governor George W. Bush and Karl Rove talking inside the governors mansion.
Just lucky. I had been looking for baby stuff and came to the site before getting off the computer. I have found a beautiful round bassinet with white eyelet bedding and a crib with a canopy. We may go out shopping this weekend if it cools off some. I do not like these days of over 100. See y’all later.
Good evening!
Happy Friday, Kas :)
