So, who was it that was commanding Israel to do what they did? I’m assuming you believe in the Bible? You said your religion does not teach it. I show you where God commanded it. Not just the men, but the women, the children, cattle, etc. Everything.
There's been soooo much Mormon-bashing on FR lately, what with the Romney candidacy. It's bugged me - and I'm Presbyterian.
Have YOU heard of the NEW testament? The Gospels? Are they not known to Mormans?

“Have YOU heard of the NEW testament? The Gospels? Are they not known to Mormans?”
And your point is?
Yeah, one movie in 150 years about the original 9/11 terrorism act on this soil is too much, right?
Couldn't have anything to do with the 150-year anniversary being a nice round number to deal with this, does it? (Nah, just look at how the media "ignored" the 5-year anniversary of the 2001 9/11 terrorist act)
Jesus/God would wish for Mormans to massacre those defenseless unarmed people? I doubt it. It is shocking. The only saving grace is that the Morman leadership did not condone it. What religious leader would have thought his church would sanction those killings? He did not need a letter to tell him he had committed a mortal sin.
You are not making any sense and you are talking nonsense. Nobody has ever said that Jesus or God or the LDS church ever told those Mormons to do it. Quite the contrary. They took it on themselves to do it.
From your warped logic, anyone in your religion that has killed someone means that your religion condoned it. There are plenty of people in your religion that have killed people. Does that mean your religion teaches it?
Your blind hate of the Mormon religion has made you not credible.
When Haight read Youngs words, he sobbed like a child and could manage only the words, Too late, too late.7
My comment:
Dear God, he murdered innocent defenseless people and he only regretted it after getting that letter? What the heck kind of religion would teach that killing is ok?
When he got a letter from his "church" he realized he did wrong, not before?
I’m kind of scratching my head too. I am a member of the Church. I just thought it would be good for everyone to see what the Church thinks about what happened, “officially”. There are so many kooks out there saying whatever they feel like saying, independent of the truth, that I figured this was a worthwhile thing to do. The article speaks for itself in my opinion.
If you look back at history, there were lots of injustices. Our government allowed slavery, wiped out Indians because we wanted to displace them. There were also lots of people that killed Mormons, including Joseph Smith.
This story is just a way to smear Mormons. There are a lot worse things that have happened by our government and other religions than this one incident.
And you conclude that the LDS was teaching killing just because this one idiot cried when he read a letter saying to let them pass? You are so biased that you have no logic.
Are you saying God did not command it? Are you saying Jesus is not God? Perhaps you are saying He is a changeable God?
It was your comment to defend, not mine.
My favorite book on the old west! It will change your thinking about a lot of history you have been force fed by the MSM, from the Pueblo uprising, Sand Creek, Ouachita, Meeker Massacre, Whitman Massacre and many others!
Read it and find out what you HAVEN’T been told about these!
-and I do not “hate” the Morman faith, I think it’s silly. There is a difference. The Morman “faith” taught that multiple wives were OK. Christianity has never condoned that. I do NOT understand it when the Muslims do it, nor that it was part of the history of the Morman faith.
Rather a narrow condition you put on the thread, since it has "LDS" in the thread title.
Why did you post it since there was already a thread about the Mountain Meadows Massacre running at:
Moderator, since the thread author wishes to limit discussion on this thread, should it be considered a caucus thread for the Religion forum?
When Jesus came he taught us a better way to be....we were to follow His words, His example.
No way do I comprehend anyone, whatever their faith, to march unarmed humans and slaughter them. How could this man have thought it was OK? That his fellow church members would WANT him to do that?
I can see for myself that the church at the time did NOT wish that by the letter he received, but how could THIS PARTICULAR man believe they would? It is beyond comprehension.
Do you understand when Abraham or Jacob (Israel) did it?
How about...Do you understand this is not a theological discussion on religion? It is a thread about a movie and an historical event. If you can't help spewing your bigotry, try the religion section. That's what it is there for.
I WAS commenting on this particular man. NOT the entire religion. My response leading to that were my responses to YOUR posts to me.
So don't play your coy little religious word games on this thread if you are not mature enough to face reality.
