When Jesus came he taught us a better way to be....we were to follow His words, His example.

No way do I comprehend anyone, whatever their faith, to march unarmed humans and slaughter them. How could this man have thought it was OK? That his fellow church members would WANT him to do that?

I can see for myself that the church at the time did NOT wish that by the letter he received, but how could THIS PARTICULAR man believe they would? It is beyond comprehension.

No. I am not letting you off the hook. You said your religion did not teach the killing of unarmed women and children or the massacre of men, etc. I show you where your God commanded it and you want to play word games. God commanded it. Your God taught it. You either don't know your religion or you want to rewrite God's word.

So don't play your coy little religious word games on this thread if you are not mature enough to face reality.

In the context of morality and his weeping it suggests that he was already troubled by what happened. Like most human sin, especially the more grotesque, it is after the sin has been committed, in spite of the rationalizations, that the full impact of the sin takes form. "Sobbed like a child" - he obviously felt the full weight of it. He did not dismiss it, excuse it, etc. Your statement has no meaning in it.
